San Antonio Businesses Must Roll-Back Capacity and Bars Must Close Tuesday Due to COVID-19

Coronavirus San Antonio

Bexar Country officials announced on Monday that businesses now operating at 75% must reduce capacity to 50%, and all bars must close, due to the rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the region. These measures go into effect Tuesday, December 29th.

These cutbacks were mandated in Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32 from October, that allowed certain venues to open to 75% capacity, unless they were in a Trauma Service Area with seven consecutive days where the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients exceeded 15% of the total hospital capacity. That threshold was met on Sunday, according to county officials.

Bexar County in in Trauma Service Area P, and the order states that 50% occupancy limits are now in effect for most businesses. This includes amusements parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, libraries, natural caverns, and other facilities, as well as collegiate and professional sporting events.
