Fox’s new show ‘The Masked Singer’ has drawn somewhat of a ‘cult-like following’ after the first few episodes. While some simply don’t “get it”; others have been captivated almost as if the show is somewhat of a “guilty pleasure”. If you’re just now hearing about this show, here’s how it goes - contestants come in the form of “secret celebrities” that perform songs while dressed in full costume. The singers perform while concealing their identity with a mask and even have their voice changed when giving “clues” as to who they might be. Judges and fans then vote on their favorite, with the performer who gathers the fewest votes having to reveal their identity.
The show promotes that the contestants have a COMBINED: 65 Grammy nominations, 16 Emmy nominations, 4 Super Bowl titles, 16 multi-platinum albums, 9 Broadway shows, AND 4 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. PHEW! Now this is important because here’s where it gets interesting...
Several theories have arisen that Carrie Underwood is competing on the show. Yes. Carrie “My-Voice-Cuts-Diamond” Underwood. Now she DOES have multi-platinum albums to go along with multiple Grammy awards. Fans familiar with Underwood also know the singer got her start on American Idol as a shy Hollywood-hopeful looking for her big break...and social media is CONVINCED that Carrie is blowing audiences away as ‘The Lion’. - Another similar post by the show’s social media stating ‘The Lion Mask’ is taking a “coffee break”... reference to her song, “Smoke Break”?
- The show’s costume designer is apparently a HUGE Carrie Underwood fan... would this be why she gave Carrie ‘The Lion’ as a symbol of courage and strength for women everywhere?
