He also faces up to six years in prison for each bail jumping charge, and up to 42 months for each drug charge. Sanborn also has a prior misdemeanor conviction over the past five years, meaning that he faces an additional two years in prison, the website reported.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim, her mother and grandmother reported a sexual assault to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 23. The trio told deputies they were concerned that the victim was pregnant as the result of an alleged sexual assault on Dec. 31, 2020, WiscNews reported.

The victim’s mother said the girl and two other children were left in Sanborn’s care that night, according to the criminal complaint. The victim said she was sleeping on a couch, and she was awakened to find Sanborn allegedly assaulting her.

During the course of the investigation, Sanborn was taken into custody and the victim was confirmed as pregnant, WiscNews reported.

Sanborn initially denied having intercourse with the victim, but changed his story after deputies presented the confirmed pregnancy results, the website reported.

Sanborn told deputies that the victim and the other children spent New Year’s Eve at his home watching movies, playing music and dancing. Sanborn admitted he was intoxicated and gave the victim an alcoholic drink, according to the criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, Sanborn said the victim initiated the intercourse and claimed he does not recall how the event occurred because he passed out, WiscNews reported.

Sanborn later stated in an interview that he regretted the incident and admitted knowing the victim’s age, according to the criminal complaint.

Sanborn is scheduled for a plea hearing on June 1, WiscNews reported.
