NY man charged in scooter crash that killed ‘Gone Girl’ actress Lisa Banes

NEW YORK — A New York man was arrested on Thursday in connection with the hit-and-run scooter accident that killed “Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes in June, authorities said.

Brian Boyd, 26, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to yield to a pedestrian, The New York Times reported.

Banes, 65, also known for her work in “Cocktail,” was in critical condition on June 4 after being hit as she was walking near Lincoln Center on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, WNBC reported.

Police said Boyd ran a red light, the Times reported. Banes died on June 14 from head injuries she sustained in the crash.

According to her manager, Banes was traveling to visit The Juilliard School, her alma mater, WPIX reported.

A wanted poster enabled officers to recognize Boyd, who resides in Manhattan’s Upper West side, near the intersection of the crash site on Thursday, according to the Times. He was taken into custody at about 6:30 p.m., according to police.

Banes was a star in theater, movies and on television. On Broadway, she appeared in “Rumors,” “Accent on Youth” and “Present Danger,” according to Variety. Her movie credits included “Young Guns,” “Pumpkin,” “Freedom Writers” and “A Cure for Wellness.” She had television roles on “Roseanne,” “Six Feet Under,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Madam Secretary”, “Masters of Sex,” “Nashville” and “NCIS.”
