Louisville man accused of beating, imprisoning ex-girlfriend in basement

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky man is accused of kidnapping, beating and threatening his former girlfriend and locking her in the basement of a home, authorities said.

According to court records, Timothy Guest, 37, of Louisville, was arrested Thursday and charged with kidnapping, strangulation, assault and terroristic threatening, WLKY reported.

Investigators said the victim and Guest had previously dated and lived together, the television station reported. According to court documents, the victim was with a friend the day she was kidnapped.

Police said Guest forced the woman to leave with him and would not allow her to leave his home, WDRB reported. Police said Guest punched the victim, hit her with a tiki torch and a metal wire and choked her, the television station reported.

Police said the victim was able to break free and left the house, but Guest was able to catch her and bring her back into the residence, WLKY reported. According to court records, the victim said Guest threatened to shoot her if she attempted to leave the house.

Neighbors who saw the incident called authorities, WDRB reported.

When police arrived at the residence, Guest was gone. They found the victim locked in the basement without food and water, the television station reported.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated for her injuries, WLKY reported.

Guest appeared in Jefferson District Court Friday morning and pleaded not guilty, WDRB reported.

He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
