The Heroes to Zeroooos Lottery Club is comprised of 78 healthcare workers in Traverse City and won by matching the five white balls in the Oct. 31 drawing, the Michigan Lottery said in a news release.

BJ Bossert Jr, the club’s representative, bought the winning ticket at a CVS.

“There are about 65 members who consistently play, but anyone can throw in money whenever they choose,” Bossert said. “I purchased a Powerball ticket the afternoon of the drawing and then checked the results the next morning at about 4:30 a.m. When I saw we had won $1 million, I was in shock! I posted in the Facebook group and said I had a special announcement coming later that day.”

Several hours later, Bossert posted a news article about the $1 million ticket being sold in Traverse City, prompting members of the club to reach out and ask if they had won.

The members of the club were each presented with a check for approximately $12,800.

“Everyone in our club is ecstatic,” Bossert said. “This prize is a nice bonus for all of us around the holidays.”
