The Voice Auditions: Blake Shelton Did Not Recognize This Guy

The new season of The Voice kicked off last night and one memorable performance was from a 22-year-old Floridian with a mullet named Kenzie Wheeler. He sang Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes.”

Kelly Clarkson ended up blocking Blake Shelton from getting Kenzie on his team, and after the rest of the judges turned their chairs he had to choose between Nick Jonas, John Legend, and Kelly. Ultimately, he chose Team Kelly!

Another moment from last night’s episode was when a guy named Pete Mroz auditioned, at the end he talked about how he used to be in a group called “The Young Riders” and then Blake Shelton chimed in that he too was a part of the same group but apparently didn’t remember Pete.

So good. The Blind Auditions Part 2 continue tonight at 8!
