Music City Minute: Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, Michael Ray

It’s New Music Discovery Friday and YA’LL there is new music overload today! Let’s start with Carrie Underwood, we’ve been teasing her Christmas album all week, “My Gift” is out today! The album has many of your holiday favorites including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” and “Little Drummer Boy” that Carrie’s five-year-old son Isaiah is featured on.

Scotty McCreery is back today with new music! It’s been since 2018 that we’ve heard a new song from him, but the wait was well worth it! Today he released “You Time” a song that’s all about needing time with his wife. In the son he talks about touring and following his dreams but how in the end he needs a little time with his wife.

Michael Ray also put out new music today, his song “Whiskey and Rain” is definitely more 90′s country. It’s a little crazy when you first hear it, it’ll remind you of Gary Allan. The song tells the story of Michael being heartbroken and drowning his sorrows in alcohol as the sky opens up.

Michael said, “I miss story songs that you have to listen to all the way through to understand. This song is everything I love about country music -- traditional country music, like Tim McGraw and Earl Thomas Conley -- and I want to bring that back.”

“Whiskey and Rain” is the first single from his future third album.

Beth was born and raised in the beach town of Jacksonville, Florida where she grew up listening to country music! Beth’s Mom always tells the story of how Beth would listen to the radio on her giant yellow AM/FM headset every night and belt out Brooks & Dunn’s “My Maria” – it’s one of Beth’s favorite memories.
