Music City Minute: Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, Y100 Throwback Weekend

Carly Pearce just put out a new song ya’ll, and it is throwing some serious shade! So, you might remember we shared the news of Carly and her ex husband Michael Ray divorcing back in June. After eight months a source close to Carly said “It wasn’t something she wanted to have to do. This hasn’t been a quarantine realization – it was a last resort.”

The new song that’s out today is called “Next Girl” and I mean, it must be about him.

She said if there’s something about the song that sounds familiar it’s because it was influenced by female country artists of the ’80s and ’90s.

Lauren Alaina’s EP “Getting Over Him” is out now! There are seven new songs on the album that Lauren says there’s no hidden meaning, she says it really is about getting over somebody. Of course, all of Lauren’s songs are always heartfelt and her voice can make you feel anything but there’s one song specifically called “Run” that’s about different scenarios in life that just make you want to run.

She said, “I went through two very public breakups, and that’s not really ideal, you know. And I never answered any questions about it. I answered questions about the first one, [but] I answered nothing about the second one. I really felt like no matter what I said, I wouldn’t say the right thing. I was on national television on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and it was just not the best time to be going through a breakup. So, I decided to write about it, and now I feel like I’m finally giving my opinion [laughs].”

To celebrate the release of her EP she’s doing her first livestream concert next Saturday. You can buy tickets now, and you should because she performed at our 8 Man Jam a few years ago and absolutely crushed it!

Remember to keep it on Y100 all weekend! To celebrate Labor Day weekend, we’re throwing it back to some of the best songs you haven’t heard in a long time!
