The Twin Cities Salvation Army said in a release Monday that a check for $200,000 was dropped into a red kettle in the south metro area Saturday.

A spokesman for the Salvation Army said the donation was made at a Cub Foods location, but the donor wanted to remain anonymous, KSTP reported.

According to a photo provided by the Salvation Army, the check was dated Dec. 14 in the amount of $200,000.

The release said the donation will boost fundraising efforts, which are running about 10 percent behind last season's numbers.
