Music City Minute: Dustin Lynch, Jason Aldean, FGL, Old Dominion

Dustin Lynch had a career moment on Tuesday when he was asked to join the Grand Ole Opry. Trace Adkins did the inviting… and the official induction will happen on September 18th.

Dustin talked about it later. Apparently, he's an emotional guy. He said, "I'm a crier. And I held it back to just about two minutes of tears."

It was also a full-circle thing, because Trace was one of the first country stars he met, and probably the first one to insult him. It was back in high school, he was with his girlfriend, and he asked Trace to take a photo with them.

He said, "[Trace] looked at me and he looked at her and said, 'Darlin', you're dating this little shrimp?' Fast forward however many years it's been and he invites me to become a member of the Opry."

He also made a confession, Dustin said, "The first time I came here I snuck in under someone else's name. A buddy [got] put on the list and I used his name to get in backstage. I remember sweating bullets."

An awesome little tidbit I came across is that Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line are tight now, but they sure didn't start off on the right foot. Jason remembers before they met when he saw them backstage looking a little too comfortable. He didn't like it.

He says, "I saw them in the dressing room at the show, and I don't know who these guys are. So my first question was, 'Who are you and why are you in my room?'"

However, once he gave them a listen, Jason discovered that he, Tyler and Brian had quite a bit in common: Jason said, "Once I started listening to their music, it reminded me of a lot of my stuff, some of the early stuff, where it was country but also had this hard rock edge to it... I think, for me, it was this respect for what they were doing and what they were bringing to the country music genre."

This is awesome, talked about being humbled, Old Dominion recently posted a clip of them performing at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon back in 2010... and every single customer in the place was dancing. Unfortunately, there were only TWO customers in the place. Yes, they were a couple, but at least they were having fun!
