Music City Minute: ACM Awards Recap + Performances

Last night may have been the best ACM Awards yet! We were treated to amazing performances by our favorite country artists and of course they took home some awards! Reba was back as the host and was so adorable with her little jokes and banter about seeing a lot of these artists as babies.

Miranda Lambert won Female Vocalist of the Year last night for the ninth year in a row! She also won Song of the Year for "Tin Man" which makes her the most-awarded artist in ACM history, with 31 wins. Brooks & Dunn are in second, with 29.

Now Chris Stapleton couldn’t be at the show last night but for good reason, his wife Morgane was expecting to give birth to their twin boys so of course he didn’t want to miss that! And it’s a good thing he stayed home because they welcomed their little boys into the world and Reba made the announcement right after they accepted the award on Chris’s behalf for Male Vocalist of the Year, and he also won an award for Album of the Year! Plus, if that wasn’t enough, yesterday was also Chris’s birthday! What a night for him!

The Entertainer of the Year might be the most prestigious award of the night, and that went to Jason Aldean. He’s struggled with a lot over the past few months since the Route 91 tragedy and rightfully became emotional when accepting the award.

Other awards included:

Vocal Duo of the Year - Brothers Osborne

Vocal Group of the Year - Old Dominion

Song of the Year - “Tin Man” Miranda Lambert

Single Record of the Year - “Body Like A Back Road” Sam Hunt

Video of the Year - “It Ain’t My Fault” Brothers Osborne

Vocal Event of the Year - “The Fighter” Keith Urban feat. Carrie Underwood

Songwriter of the Year - Rhett Akins

The big performances of the night were the 90’s collaborations! First up was Alan Jackson and Jon Pardi they sang Alan’s hit “Chattahoochee”:

Next up was Toby Keith and Blake Shelton singing “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”:

And finally to end the night Reba and Kelly Clarkson sang “Does He Love You”:

But the performance everyone was waiting for seemed to be Carrie Underwood’s performance of “Cry Pretty” it was her first performance since her fall back in November.
