Music City Minute: Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Brett Young

Keith Urban convinced his audience to help sing "Happy Birthday" to his wife Nicole Kidman… who turned 51 yesterday. Nicole posted the clip on her Instagram and wrote, "What a gift. My husband and everyone at Country USA Festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin singing me Happy Birthday."

If it were up to Kelsea Ballerini, the world would know that country music is complex and real… and way beyond the typical image that people always try to hang on it.

She said, “Country has this stigma still of like, 'It's all about the fiddle and the truck.'

"Obviously, that's still in the roots. But it's about the story, and it's about the emotions of the human heart. Not necessarily the clichés of beer, truck, dog, cheating."

She's also a little annoyed with the idea that female country stars try to compete against each other. She said, "I'm constantly seeing articles about 'Who's your country queen'… and it makes all of us feel like there's only one spot.

"So there's this weird, negative, competitive energy in the room. That makes you feel awkward, and like you can't be their friend." Exccept I think Kelsea does a great job! She seems to be friends with everyone including Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, Kelly Clarkson, and more!

Brett Young had the wedding song of the year with “In Case You Didn’t Know” so he has a lot to live up to with his own wedding. He says he’s planning to sing one song at his wedding, it’ll be an original track inspired by his wife-to-be Taylor Mills. He said, “I want to write something specific to the day” but says he hasn’t written it yet. He’s been working hard on a new album and already has had so much success in a short amount of time, we’re sure it’ll be a tearjerker!

Music City Minute: Miranda Lambert, Brett Young, Chris Stapleton

So you remember all the drama a few weeks back with Miranda Lambert and her new man Turnpike Troubadors Evan Felker? Well, Miranda Lambert recently did a pretty candid interview about her life. She opened up about a lot of different topics, including her absence from the "drama" of social media and being a private person she said, "I am who I am. I am honest about being flawed. That's all I can be, you know? I cuss. I drink. I get divorced and get my heart broken. I break hearts. I can't do or be that anymore, or it'll drive me crazy. I won't be any good anymore."

She also referenced how crazy social media is saying, “They make up so many lies, no one can know the truth. The truth is it’s in my music if you listen close enough.”

The most recent rumor is that she’s trying to rush Evan to the altar because she has baby fever, but that’s from the National Enquirer so I mean it’s pretty obvious they’re just out to make a buck.

You can read the full interview Miranda Lambert did here.

Brett Young fans he is working hard on new music! Brett says he's recorded nine songs for his second album… and has three more tracks to go before it's finished. He's super excited and can't wait to get it done. Unfortunately, no word yet on a release date.

Chris and Morgane Stapleton are hoping to give back to the community by introducing a new charity designed to benefit a number of organizations.

The charity, named Outlaw State of Mind (or OSOK) is described by the couple on social media as a "fund that supports a variety of causes close to their heart."

The Stapletons said, "We look forward to using this platform as a way to shine a light on the organizations OSOK supports." Some of those organizations include the March of Dimes, Musicares Foundation, City of Hope, Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, VetsAid and more.

If you’re a Kacey Musgraves fan she’ll be on Late night with Seth Meyers tonight, and don’t forget those Luke Bryan tickets to see him September 6th at the AT&T Center are at 8:25!

Music City Minute: Blake Shelton, Sam Hunt, Big & Rich

Blake Shelton may have celebrated his birthday yesterday, but the party actually got underway a few days earlier. Gwen Stefani marked her man’s b-day with a weekend-long party, which also combined a Father's Day celebration with her dad, Dennis. Gwen shared videos from their celebration on her Instagram Stories, including the family singing "Happy Birthday" to Blake and then Blake returned the favor by serenading them with Alabama's "Dixieland Delight." And birthday fun continued on Monday, with Gwen surprising Blake with a brand new flag pole that had just been installed on the property. Blake was also given a large Smithworks Vodka birthday cake, which he wasted no time taking a big bite out of. Watch the video here:

A picture of Gwen and Blake posing in front of his new flag pole was also shared:

Some of the other videos and pictures, which were captured and posted courtesy of Instagram user @gwenfreakgx, can be seen here:

Sam Hunt's busy schedule has given him less time to work on his new album, but he says there is a timeline in place:

Sam Hunt: "I didn't plan on touring this summer, but an opportunity came up to go out with Luke Bryan and I couldn't pass it up because it was such a great opportunity. But at the end of the summer [or] fall, I think I'm gonna be able to, hopefully, be able to sink my teeth into a project and have some new music ready to go before too long after that."

Big & Rich revealed some exciting news during the 2018 Country Jam Festival in Colorado over the weekend. During an interview with Taste of Country ahead of their set, John Rich asked a crowd of fans in front of him if they'd watch a reality series called Living Big & Rich. John further explained that they were working on the series with actor Mark Wahlberg, who will serve as the show's executive director. Rich also says that the duo, with the assistance of Cowboy Troy, is currently shooting the show's pilot and hopes to debut the series this fall. There's no word on which network it would air on.

Scotty McCreery

Music City Minute: Jason Aldean, Scotty McCreery, Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay

Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert put out the video of their song “Drowns the Whiskey” and it’s really cool! They filmed it at Nashville's oldest dive bar, the Springwater, the video includes shots of Jason and Miranda hanging out at the bar together and even playing a game of pool. And if the Springwater bar looks a little familiar, that's because it's same bar where Jason did his album photo shoot for Rearview Town.

Jason also released a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the new video, which can be seen here:

Scotty McCreery and Gabi Dugal are officially husband and wife! The couple tied the knot on Saturday in the mountains of North Carolina. More than 200 people attended the wedding which was officiated by Scotty’s childhood pastor and his father served as his best man.A few years back, Scotty talked about his longtime girlfriend: Scotty McCreery: "Known her my whole life and it's going well. It's awesome. It's one of those things where the road life is crazy enough as it is so it's nice to have that rock there for me. It's a good thing going? so, yeah." The couple shared their first dance to Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love." They’ve known each other since kindergarten and began dating in high school. His now wife is a University of North Carolina graduate and a pediatric cardiac nurse at Duke University Hospital.

Carrie Underwood posted a sweet message on Instagram to her daddy yesterday. She wrote with a picture of her father on her wedding day, "Happy Father's Day to this handsome fella! You think I'm strong. You think I'm fearless...even when I'm at my weakest. You always see the best in me when I can't. I wanna be the girl you think I am. Thanks to all the men out there who lift their little girls up and think they can do no wrong. Thanks to the ones who protect and provide. Thanks to the ones to work hard. You are the first loves of your little girls' lives! Thanks, Dads!"

As Dan + Shay gears up for the release of their self-titled album on Friday (6/22), the duo has treated their eager fans to an early present. On Friday (6/15), Dan + Shay released the "icon" video for "Keeping Score," their new song featuring the one and only Kelly Clarkson. Dan Smyers says it was an honor to sing this duet with Kelly, adding that, "Not only is she one of the most incredible vocalists of our generation, she is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted people we have ever met."

Music City Minute: Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, Shania Twain, Jon Pardi

Little Big Town will be the subject of a new exhibit coming to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. It’s called "Little Big Town: The Power of Four," the new exhibit will tell the group's story from the very beginning, with keepsakes and photos from each member's childhood and career on display. Some of the artifacts include the neon signs used on their Pain Killer album cover, Karen Fairchild's wedding dress, and costumes lined with led lighting from the 2014 CMA Awards. "Little Big Town: The Power of Four" will open on June 29, 2018, and will run through June 9 of next year.

Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Foundation has pulled off another successful pet adoption drive during CMA Fest. This year's drive helped 56 dogs find new homes during the 4-day event at the Music City Center, bringing the total to more than 150 MuttNation pups adopted over the 3 years it’s been held in Nashville. Many of the dogs that were adopted at this year's event were named in honor of some of country music's biggest stars, including Lady A, Zac Brown, Luke Bryan, George Strait, Keith Urban, Dottie West, Tammy Wynette and Miranda Lambert herself. Such an amazing thing she’s doing!

USA Network announced that Travis Tritt will be joining Shania Twain and Jake Owen on Real Country, a new singing competition dedicated to finding the next big country star. The eight-part television series will be filmed in Nashville over the summer and will premiere on USA Network this fall. Shania, Jake, and Travis will hand-select emerging solo artists, duos, and groups to perform in country music showcases, with the best artists from each showcase then performing in a grand finale for a "chance to be named one of country music's next breakout acts."Anyone interested in performing in one of the showcases can apply at or via email at

Jon Pardi is opening for Luke Bryan on his stadium tour and he said to not take it personally if he doesn’t get quite as up close and personal as the superstar does by bending down to high five the audience.

“You always see Luke out there dancing and getting up with the crowd,” he said. “I try not to get the selfies and stuff like that because he’s going to come out and do that, and it’s a long way down for me -- I’m super tall. It’s like, ‘Let me get down there, my jeans are so tight!’” he said, adopting a groaning tone. “I’m going to sit down here with you and sing the rest of the song.”

Music City Minute: Jason Aldean, Maren Morris, Kenny Chesney, Cody Johnson

Jason Aldean has been bringing his six-month old son Memphis on the road with him, and it's definitely making him clean up a lot more.

He says, "I was looking around my bus, and there's baby bottles and formula and diapers. I'm like, 'Man, that is not the kind of bottles I'm used to seeing on my bus.' I mean, my bus life has changed over the years but it's awesome. I love it."

It also looks like little Memphis is going to be a road animal before he's out of diapers. He went on to say, "I think it's going to be fun to watch him out there kind of grow up around all of this stuff… and get to live it a little bit.

"Even though he's little, I want him to sort of have memories of that stuff. So, we'll see. It's a work in progress."

Each new bar that gets opened in Nashville by a country star is unique to that individual artist, but there is one thing they all have in common: each one of those country stars is a man. But that could all change if Maren Morris and Jennifer Nettles have their way. In a message posted on Twitter yesterday, Maren took notice of all the "dude artists opening bars downtown" and issued a proclamation of her own. She tweeted, "When I'm rich, I'm seriously opening one called My Church. All we'll serve is wine, @RyanHurd is gonna grow his hair back out and be the bartender, and it'll be on Church street. You're welcome."

And after seeing Morris' tweet, Jennifer Nettles was inspired to throw in her two cents as well. Responding to Maren's tweet, Jennifer said, "Well, I too am opening one. Next door to yours. Naming it "Raise the Bar HIGH", from our Sugarland song 'Settling.'

Kenny Chesney announced that proceeds from his new album, Songs for the Saints, will be donated directly to Love For Love City, Kenny's foundation that was established last year to help those affected by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean islands. Beyond selling Love for Love City t-shirts and hats at every tour stop, sales of Kenny's new Songs for the Saints album will also be used to raise money for the continued Virgin Island recovery and restoration efforts and the foundation's mission of getting relief where it's needed - something Kenny has been personally involved in.

Yesterday we announced Cody Johnson and friends are going to have a big concert at the Helotes Fairgrounds! The show will be September 15th, so far only Cody Johnson has been announced, but tickets go on sale this Friday, plus we’re hookin’ you up with win them before you can buy them.

Music City Minute: Luke Combs, Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, Jake Owen, Kid Rock

Sad news about Luke Combs! He lost his voice while performing at CMA Fest on Friday… so he's been put on vocal rest. He canceled his shows over the weekend, plus his concerts this Thursday in Grand Junction, Colorado and Friday in Comstock, Nebraska.

He hit up Instagram with the news and said, "I saw my doctors and we've got a plan of vocal rest and treatments [so] I can be back with y'all as quickly as possible. It kills me to [have to] do this. Y'all are the reason I get on stage every night."

These days it seems like Taylor Swift gets on the country charts by giving her songs to other artists. The two recent ones being Little Big Town’s “Better Man” and Sugarland’s “Babe”.

Kelsea Ballerini and Taylor Swift are actually close friends, but Kelsea says she wouldn’t record a Taylor song.

Kelsea said, "I think I'll always cut my own stuff. It's part of who I am as an artist. As much as I think she's incredible. I would love to write WITH her, though."

Most people ARE good and Jake Owen learned that over the weekend. A fan named Todd posted some very nice things about him and he greatly appreciated it. Jake hit up Instagram with a heartfelt response:

Kid Rock is joining the list of musicians with bars in downtown Nashville, he’s actually partnering with Tootsie's honky-tonk to open a four-story entertainment venue and steakhouse on Lower Broadway. The venue will reportedly have a bar and stage on every floor as well as a rooftop deck. The name for the roughly $20 million bar and restaurant has yet to be announced, but the report says that the owners hope to open it in about one month. So far, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, John Rich and Alan Jackson have opened bars in downtown Nashville. Here’s a picture of his restaurant in Detroit:

The episode is scheduled to air Monday, June 18 at 7 PM!

Kane Brown’s been celebrating a lot of success lately, he won a CMT Music Award Wednesday, his song “Heaven” just went number one, and he’s recently engaged. Well now Kane Brown fans can get even more excited because he’s been teasing a new song on social media since March and finally released it yesterday! It’s called “Lose It”, and it’ll be one of the songs on his new album coming out November 9th.

Music City Minute: CMT Music Awards Recap!

Last night was a big night for country music! The CMT Awards went down and Blake Shelton was the big winner! He took home two awards for Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year for “I’ll Name the Dogs”.

Carrie Underwood feat. Ludacris - "The Champion" won “Female Video of the Year” she set a new record last night, that was her 18th CMT award.

Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown won Collaborative Video of the Year for “What Ifs” that was Kane’s first CMT Award trophy.

There were so many great moments from the show but one of my favorites was when Carly Pearce won “Breakthrough Video of the Year” for “Every Little Thing” she got up on stage to accept the award and started bawling. And she ended her acceptance speech perfectly by saying, "To the guy that broke my heart. Thank you." Obviously he inspired the song.

And finally the Backstreet Boys won an award with Florida Georgia Line for “CMT Performance of the Year” from the CMT Crossroads show, and it seemed that half of the viewers were angry tweeting, one said, "My 8-year-old mind can’t comprehend how the Backstreet Boys just won a country music award.”

Another viewer tweeted, "So this Backstreet Boys thing... we’re just deciding they’re country now? Is that what’s happening?"

And then a girl after my own heart named Ellen Bass chimed in and said, “YASSSS BACKSTREET BOYS AND FGL!! #CMTawards

Other winners last night were:

Duo Video of the Year Dan + Shay - "Tequila"

Group Video of the Year, Little Big Town - "When Someone Stops Loving You"

Music City Minute: Blake Shelton, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, CMT Music Awards

Today Blake Shelton will celebrate the opening of his new Nashville location of Ole Red by co-hosting the Today show's fourth hour with anchor Hoda Kotb live from the venue's stage! There was no shortage of big announcements during Garth Brooks' weekly "Inside Studio G" Facebook Live broadcast on Monday. While taking question from his fans, Garth announced that he has new music on the way and also revealed that a big tour in the works. Following the Facebook Live broadcast, Garth then talked more about the announcements and shared a timeline for when fans can expect additional information: Garth said, "[I'm] just really excited about everything that's coming...and the details will come out as they come out - I'm hoping over the next two, four, six weeks we'll have everything in line to make the announcements for the rest of the year!" Check out the "Inside Studio G" episode:

"Billboard" talked Luke Bryan into playing a game of "Fishing for Answers." He pulled questions out of a fishbowl and then, well, answered them.

He revealed his first celebrity crush, what he collected as a kid, and what “Makes Him Country”.

But hands down the best question was… how many times does he sing 'shake it for me' in his smash hit, "Country Girl Shake It For Me".

He had no idea, so he guessed. He started with 15, but that was wrong. He went up to 20 and got another no. Then he upped it to 30… and somebody finally shouted out 42.

Speaking of Luke Bryan we made the announcement this morning – he’s officially coming back to San Antonio September 6th. Tickets go on sale June 15th at 10am!

Don’t forget tonight the"CMT Music Awards" are on at 7:00 p.m. on CMT. Little Big Town are your will host the show, and some of the performers include Chris Stapleton, Blake Shelton, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, and the Backstreet Boys!

Music City Minute: Backstreet Boys, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, & Gwen Stefani

So a few months ago we told you there was a rumor going around that A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys was basically threatening to release a country album that would "shake things up." Well, he did.

The first song premiered yesterday and it's called "Back Porch Bottle Service"

Some are saying it could easily be a Florida Georgia Line song. Makes sense since the whole "God, Your Mama, And Me" thing is what inspired him to do this.

A.J. says the song "'Back Porch Bottle Service' is all about making time with the one you love. Forget the club, let's just the make the night about you and me. Let me be your deejay, let me be your bartender, let me be your man."

He's performing "Back Porch" plus a few of his other new country songs at a special fan event tonight in Nashville. So I guess the album is done, or close to it.

Either way, the Backstreet Boys are presenting and performing at tomorrow night's "CMT Music Awards"… so there's a good chance we'll be hearing it then too.

Speaking of Florida Georgia Line they’ll be hitting the Las Vegas Strip this December for a five-night residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The "Florida Georgia Line Live From Las Vegas" residency will kick off on December 1st, with additional shows set for December 5, 7, 8 and 11. The residency will feature the guys playing some of their biggest hits, with internet sensation Mason Ramsey (a.k.a the Walmart yodeler) set to open the shows. Tickets will go on sale to the public this Saturday at 10 AM local time.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were in Texas over the weekend! They attended a friend's wedding in Fort Worth on Saturday. Gwen couldn't help but dance to her own beat, literally she shared some videos dancing to her song “Hollaback Girl” while Blake looked dapper in a black suit and white boutonniere and appeared to be a groomsman in the wedding.

Catching up with Midland before Gruene Hall

Music City Minute: Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Cole Swindell

Jason Aldean posted a photo of his son Memphis gnawing on a beer can… probably because he's teething. And since people make a big deal out of everything, his hash-tags covered all the bases. Jason said "What can I say, it runs in the family. #My-Bad, #Everybody-Chill, #He-Didn't-Drink-It, #But-It's-Funny, #Drink-Responsibly."

So of course people are going crazy in the comments being over dramatic. Talking about how he’s a bad parent, referencing alcohol abuse, and so much more. I’m sure the beer can isn’t even open yet, I mean COME ON people.

Things have been going very well for Luke Combs his song "Hurricane" and "When It Rains It Pours" have topped the Country charts… and it looks like "One Number Away" may do the same.

He was asked if he could have seen this coming a year ago. He said, "Probably not. I would have thought we'd have a little bit of success. But not the year that we've had."

After all, it wasn't long ago that he was just another singer trying to get people to pay attention. "[It's] just hard to imagine that five years ago, I couldn't get a guy to stop eating a chicken wing and listen to me play."

I guess you have to take the good with the bad. These days he's so busy that he doesn't even have time to goof off.

Luke says, "Sometimes people are like, 'Why don't you ever hang out?' I've got 20 people that count on me every day to be out playing shows, so I kinda don't have that luxury of hanging out as much as I'd like to." Luke put out a deluxe version of his album called “This Ones For You Too” on Friday! Here’s an acoustic version of one of the songs from it:

Cole Swindell announced the release of his third studio album, All of It, out August 17. As a way to tie over eager fans until the album drops, Cole has been quietly releasing a few new songs over the past few weeks. In addition to sharing his current Top 25 single "Break Up In The End," Cole has also released his songs "Somebody's Been Drinkin'" and "The Ones Who Got Me Here," with "Reason To Drink" becoming available on June 15.Cole says, "It has been great to hear what [the fans] think of the songs because they are the reason I am still here getting to do this."

Music City Minute: Florida Georgia Line, Luke Combs, Michael Ray

It’s Friday and that means we get new music! Fans following Florida Georgia Line on Instagram may have noticed they deleted all of their previous posts to tease something big coming. FGL posted black-and-white photos of themselves all week, including a picture of them in a field surrounded by light bulbs and another shot of them strumming guitars in a traditional barn dance. Each of their posts includes what looks to be lyrics from a new song, meaning that their big surprise was most likely teasing their next single. And that’s exactly what they were doing! The song is called “Simple” and it’s the first release from their upcoming fourth album.

Speaking of new albums Luke Combs released his This One's For You Too deluxe album with five new songs today! Luke says, "I didn't want these five songs to kind fall into like purgatory of in between album one and album two because I think they're all really great song and so, I wanted to give them an opportunity to be heard in the light that I think they should be heard in." Here’s one of those new songs “Must’ve Never Met You”

Michael Ray is also releasing a new album today! It’s his second album called Amos. The album is named after his Grandfather who gave he and his father the love of country music. Michael says, "They formed a band and they passed it down to my generation of the family which kind of took it from there.” He also put clips of every song from the new album on his Instagram, here’s one called “Summer Water”

WATCH: Spurs Guard, Manu Ginobili Shows Off Acting Skills in New NBA Finals TV Spot

Spurs guard, Manu Ginobili is using this summer to brush up on his acting skills! The 4-time NBA champion and 2-time All-Star appears in a new television spot promoting the upcoming film, ‘The Equalizer 2’ which stars Denzel Washington.

Airing during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Washington begins the commercial by joking that he won’t act in a sequel (in reference to The Equalizer).

In response, the casting director begins a string of auditions which prominently features Ginobili among other NBA stars. Manu even ends the commercial with an outfit that likely got Spurs fans cheering.

Ginobili will turn 41 years old in July leaving many to believe we saw him play the final game in his 16 seasons with the Spurs against the Warriors this year. In the 2018 NBA Playoffs, Ginobili played in his 217th playoff game, breaking a tie with Shaquille O'Neal for sixth in league history. Ginobili also passed legendary sharpshooter, Reggie Miller for third in career 3-pointers in playoff history.

If Manu decides to retire for good, could we expect to see him on the silver screen more?
