Jake Owen has released a brand-new single inspired by the John Mellencamp classic, "Jack & Diane." It’s based around the 1982 hit's iconic melody, the new song called -- "I Was Jack (You Were Diane)" -- pays tribute to the classic-rock staple while also reinventing it. For Jake, it was also really important that John Mellencamp gave his stamp of approval on this song, and he says he really "digs the track." The original song "Jack & Diane" was about two American kids growing up in the heartland, and Jake says that imagery is exactly what so many country songs are based on.

Jason Aldean's wife, Brittany, sent her husband a sweet message on Wednesday (2/28) to mark his 41st birthday. In a post on Instagram, Brittany expressed her love for Jason, writing that his sarcasm, humor, passion, strength and love for people are undeniable. She then thanked him for being the best husband and daddy and said "We love you so much." Brittany would later post a picture of her and the birthday boy getting a good workout in the gym.

Music City Minute: William Shatner, Reba, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves

Last week we told you William Shatner recently signed with Heartland Records Nashville, the deal left many wondering if the Star Trek actor was boldly going where he hadn't gone before: country music. Now, William has revealed that he is, indeed, working on a new country project for the label, which will actually be a collaboration with one of the genre's well-known names. In a short video posted on YouTube, William said that he's working with a country icon on his new project, but couldn't reveal who it is just yet. During the video, Shatner also expressed his love for the genre and its talented pool of songwriters in Nashville: William says, "They write songs like people write poetry, it's really incredible what these artists who write country music can do. I've got some great songs that I want to do and I'm going to do them very soon with somebody you love."William Shatner has recorded several albums over the years and even had a country connection, appearing in Brad Paisley's music videos for "Celebrity" and "Online."

Reba will appear on CBS This Morning on tomorrow to reveal the nominees for the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards. Prior to her appearance on CBS This Morning during the 7:00 AM hour, Reba will also appear on Facebook Live to reveal the nominees for the coveted ACM Song of the Year trophy. Entertainment Tonight host Nancy O'Dell is then slated to reveal additional ACM nominees on at 7:50 AM, with the full list of nods being released immediately following those announcements. The 53rd ACM Awards will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 15 at 7:00 PM on CBS.

Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation gave surprise donations to some 50 animal shelters across the country. The grants ranged from $3,000 to $5,000. She says, "I'm amazed and humbled by the great work these shelters do, and so honored to be able to support their critical efforts."

Kacey Musgraves debuted a heartbreaking new song, called "Space Cowboy" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.

"Space Cowboy" is a song about realizing that, sometimes, love wanes after the honeymoon phase wears off, and the only thing to do is say goodbye. In the song, Kacey speaks of being in a relationship and knowing that the other person has checked out and is looking to leave. Instead of chasing her man, however, Kacey calmly sings about gracefully letting him go.

Music City Minute: Maren Morris, Brett Young, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are getting married March 24th… so Ryan had his bachelor party over the weekend. Nothing crazy, he and some friends did a fishing trip to Destin, Florida.

Meanwhile, Maren prepped a little more for the wedding by getting four wisdom teeth taken out. She posted the news about that on Sunday. And then yesterday she wrote this, "Day one, missing four of my wisest teeth."

Speaking of love and marriage, Brett Young took to social media yesterday to announce he's officially off the market! Brett Young proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Taylor Mills, earlier this month in Oxford, Mississippi -- near where he went to college at Ole Miss. The two met in Arizona while Taylor was attending Arizona State University, and they will likely return there to get married.

Brett says since they'd likely get hitched in Arizona where Mills went to college, he thought it'd be romantic to propose where he went to school. As for the ring, Brett popped the question with a custom-made sparkler which he designed with both of their initials.

Over the weekend some of our favorite country artists celebrated birthdays of those closest to them. Blake Shelton channeled his inner Shaggy over the weekend during a Scooby-Doo-themed birthday party for Gwen Stefani's 4-year-old son, Apollo. Blake wore a scruffy wig and green shirt to portray Shaggy, and Gwen dressed up as the show's Daphne character and of course, Apollo took on the role as Scooby-Doo himself. Gwen used her Instagram Stories to document the whole party, which included everything from elaborate Scooby-Doo birthday cakes to a full marionette puppet show.

Carrie Underwood and friends celebrated her son Isaiah’s 2nd birthday over the weekend with a fun two-tiered Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed cake. Carrie said the cake was “Too cute to eat (but we did anyway)!” And went on to thank the cake shop for making her sweet baby happy, saying, “I know, I know, he’s not a baby anymore 😩...but he’ll always be MY baby.”

Music City Minute: George Strait, The Voice, Kacey Musgraves, Cole Swindell, Garth Brooks

If you weren't able to catch George Strait's shows at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas earlier this month, you'll have two more chances this year. George has revealed that he'll return to Vegas for two more concerts on December 7-8, making these his final performances of 2018. The December dates will feature special guests Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen, who also recently opened the February shows for him. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 6 at 10 AM local at

The 14th season premiere of "The Voice" is on tonight at 7pm on NBC! We can’t wait to see Blake Shelton and Adam Levine battle it out with their wits and sarcastic comments. Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys join them this season as judges on the show as well.

We told you about new music on Friday from Kacey Musgraves, well she will also be on TV tonight on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! We’re guessing she’ll be promoting her new album that’ll be out March 30th.

Speaking of new music Cole Swindell fans the wait is over, his new single is called “Break Up in the End” and it’s all about doing all the special loving things you would normally do in a relationship, even though you break up in the end. It makes me sad!

Garth Brooks is opening and closing the Houston Rodeo this year and he couldn’t be happier about it!Garth: "I'm looking forward to getting back to the boys in Houston because it's all about relationships. So, seeing those guys again? Hugging their neck? and getting to play the Livestock Show. The only thing better than that is if Strait was opening and closing it this year! So, we're actually gonna learn a couple Strait songs to make sure we get to play 'em those nights just to honor The King. It's gonna be great!"

We’re hookin’ you up with tickets to see Garth coming up at 8:25!

Music City Minute: Kacey Musgraves, Tyler from FGL, & Chris Stapleton + Justin Timberlake

Kacey Musgraves fans today is the day! She’s shared two new songs off her forthcoming album Golden Hour which is out March 30th. The first one is called “Butterflies” which is about a guy making a girl super happy and getting that butterfly feeling.

The second one is called “Space Cowboy” and it’s seems to be about a guy who doesn’t want to commit.

I just love, love! Tyler Hubbard and his wife Haley had a little baby girl in December and their social media has been flooded with adorable photos and videos of her ever since. The latest video is Tyler singing “Stand By Me” while little Olivia lays there happily kicking and giggling and Mom Hayley is just loving every bit of it. Oh and by the way, he’s shirtless.

Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake came together once again for a special performance of "Say Something" at the 2018 Brit Awards on Wednesday, and as usual it was amazing. We’re thankful a fan at the show recorded some of their performance.

Music City Minute: Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, ACM’s

We always hear Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan giving each other a hard time when it comes to their competing TV shows The Voice and American Idol… and well, just giving each other a hard time in general. Well, in a recent interview Luke Bryan shared that Blake Shelton reached out to him when he first learned of getting his American Idol judging gig:Luke said, "When the Idol deal went down, Blake sent me a text going, 'Man, so fired up for ya. Nobody deserves a big ole TV opportunity more than you.' Blake's been one of those guys that had to work and scrape for every bit of recognition that he's had."

The new season of American Idol with Luke kicks off March 11th, and the new season of The Voice kicks off this Monday February 26th at 7!

A rumor was going around that Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher were on the verge of splitting up. Not true. Mike hit up Instagram to clear that up. He wrote, "We've never been better. Thanks."

It may have started when he posted this Bible verse he uses as a "daily reminder." It read, "Search me, God, and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

I guess people took that as him questioning the marriage? To me, it's more about his decision to un-retire and play one more year in the NHL.

If you’re a huge country music fan listen up! The Academy of Country Music has revealed its lineup of more than 40 performers at this year's 6th Annual ACM Party for a Cause in Las Vegas. Taking place at select venues across the Las Vegas Strip April 12th-15th, the event will include performances by artists Kelsea Ballerini, Thomas Rhett, Lee Brice, Chris Lane, Kip Moore, Old Dominion, Jon Pardi and Chase Rice. Portions of all event proceeds will benefit the philanthropic arm of the Academy of Country Music, ACM Lifting Lives.

For the full list of events visit year's ACM Party for a Cause will consist of events leading up to and immediately following the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, which will broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 15 at 7:00 PM on CBS.

Spurs head coach, Gregg Popovich shared with reporters, “I’ll be surprised if [Kawhi Leonard] returns this season. The 26-year-old Leonard is in his 7th season and has already missed the first 27 games of the season. He was able to compete in nine games before returning to the injury reserve at the start of 2018.

Kawhi Leonard has been rehabilitating a right quadriceps tendinopathy (a form of tendon pain often associated with exercise or with movement) and has reportedly told team doctors he wasn’t ready to play when cleared back on December 12th.

The Spurs are sitting in 3rd place in the Western Conference at 35-24 behind only the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets. The Spurs take on the 6th place Denver Nuggets tomorrow night in Denver at 8:00 PM CST.

Music City Minute: Cole Swindell, Maren Morris, Granger Smith, Carly Pearce

Cole Swindell fans if you’ve been wondering where Cole’s been lately, he’s just been workin’ hard on new music! We can finally expect to hear some by the end of this week.

Cole’s new song is called "Break Up in the End" and it’ll be his ninth career single. He shared the news on Instagram yesterday with the caption:

"This is one of those songs, from the first time I heard it I knew it was special. I think so many people will be able to relate to the lyrics," he posted. "Even though I didn’t write it I’m amazed that the best writers in town are bringing songs like this to me and I’m very excited that this is the first single from my new album | 2.23.18"

Maren Morris is getting married sometime next month, but we don't know the date. We do know she got together with Cassadee Pope, RaeLynn, Kree Harrison andat least 13 other friends for a bachelorette party.

They stayed inside instead of hitting a club… and they pounded margaritas, "danced like crazy," and sang a bunch of One Direction songs. It looked AWESOME.

Maren posted a photo and wrote, "Not sure what I did in a past life to deserve these people, but I'm thankful." RaeLynn posted a similar pic, and captioned it, "Love you so much, Maren. So excited for you and Ryan [Hurd.]"

You know how everyone has wedding hashtags nowadays for social media? Well, Maren’s is “#GettinMurd” a combination of “getting married” and “Hurd” for her fiance’s last name. Too cute!

If there's a honeymoon, it won't be too long because her upcoming schedule is tight. Maren says, "I get married next month [and] then I kind of go right into the studio after that to make the next album."

After that, she'll be going on the road with Niall Horan. It’s definitely going to be a busy year for Maren.

Couples have been getting engaged at Granger Smith shows during "Happens Like That". The song was inspired by his wife Amber… so he decided to surprise her and get "re-engaged" during a show in her hometown of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Has Carly Pearce been walking Brett Eldredge’s dog? That's not a euphemism. They're on tour with Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins, but before it launched she had a wish. Carly said, "I said to my mom, 'I wonder if [Brett] would let me take Edgar for a walk?' [He] looks a lot like my dog, she's much older now, and Edgar looks a lot like what she looked like as a puppy."

Music City Minute: Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, Brett Eldredge

This is a great feel good story. Carrie Underwood recently donated $10,000 to her childhood friend and Oklahoma police officer Justin Durrett after Carrie got word that her friend had suffered multiple injuries from a rollover car crash on the morning of Feb. 11.

Officer Durrett, is the Checotah Oklahoma assistant police chief, was on his way to the local police department when the accident happened. He suffered a broken neck, bruised spine and other injuries that admitted him into the intensive care unit.

GoFundMe page was started for Durrett on Feb. 12 to cover the officer's medical expenses with an opening paragraph that reads: "Justin Durrett, Assistant Police Chief of Checotah, was in an accident 2/11/2018. On his way to work, he slid off the road, rolled his truck; he was ejected from his truck. Then the truck landed on him. It’s by the grace of God this man is alive. Not only alive but responsive."

The GoFundMe page is set to reach a goal of $20,000 and this past Saturday Carrie came forward and donated $10,000 to the campaign. By the time of publication, the money raised for Durrett's GoFundMe campaign stands at $12,670.

Such an kind gesture from Carrie Underwood, we would expect nothing less from such a classy woman and role model.

Maren Morris has been blowing up the music scene lately in Country and Top 40. We’ve been obsessed with all her songs and her new single is no different. It’s called "Rich" and Maren says it's the perfect song for any girl that has been done wrong by her man!

Brett Eldredge wanted to honor his latest hit, "The Long Way", so he took a few reporters on a tour of some of his favorite Nashville stops on Music Row… including places where he hung out when he first moved to town in 2006.

One of those places is the notorious "pee plaque." Yes, pee plaque. Here's the story on that. He did his share of bar hopping back in the day, and he often ended up relieving himself on the side of the Warner Music building.

Brett says, "I would stop and leave my mark every year on my territory." Well, now he's a client, so back in June, the Warner suits jokingly hung a plaque on that very spot to memorialize it.

Some of his other stops on the tour included the apartment where he once lived, the place where he wrote his hit "Mean to Me", and the studio where he recorded it. Check out video clips of the tour with Brett in Nashville here

Brett even said that he misses those times, he said, "The earlier days of my career are my fondest memories because I didn't have anything, and you're fighting for that dream. It's an amazing feeling now looking back on it. I appreciate it more and more."

Music City Minute: Reba, Willie Nelson, Kelsea Ballerini

A portion of Reba's former Starstruck Farm estate has been transformed into a luxury event space, which is open to everything from weddings and charity events to family reunions and songwriter retreats. Renamed The Estate at Cherokee Dock, the property is located about 30 miles east of Nashville in Lebanon, Tennessee, and sits on 13 acres of frontage on Old Hickory Lake. The estate's main home boasts more than 12,000 square feet of living space, with each of its seven bedrooms paying homage to country icons such as Reba, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and Garth Brooks.

You can check out a gallery of the estate on Nash Country Daily.

Speaking of Reba it looks like she and her man Skeeter will be going the distance. She posted a photo over the weekend where they're looking happy as clams. She captioned it, "Skeeter and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!! We hope you did too."

Willie Nelson announced on Friday that he'll be releasing a new album called "Last Man Standing" on April 27th. That's two days before his 85th birthday. And, he co-wrote all 11 of the songs. Did I mention he's almost 85?

The first single is also called "Last Man Standing" and it's out now… as is the video. He'll probably perform lot of the new stuff on his tour, which is scheduled to pick up next week.

A huge congrats to Kelsea Ballerini her song “Legends” went number one yesterday! To celebrate she had homemade margaritas with her husband and fellow singer Morgan Evans, then he hook her to Legends Corner a honky tonk in Nashville, which is obviously fitting because of the song title, and then they celebrated with a huge dessert spread!
