Today is the day! Garth Brooks released the third installment in his five-part Anthology project, and this might be his favorite one: Garth says, "The thing that I like best about this one is of all the Anthologies, the Live one is out now. That's my baby. If you know me, there's three things in country music: songwriting, recording and the live part, and the live part, no offense to the other two, is my favorite." "The Anthology Part III Live" will feature five CDs with 52 live recordings, including the music from his latest live album, "Triple Live."The compilation will also feature interviews with Garth, Trisha Yearwood, his band and crew, as well as 100 behind-the-scenes and performances photos.
Billy Currington shared a new song on his Instagram teasing that it’ll be on his 7th album. The song is called “Naturally” and it’s a love song.
Jennifer Nettles wrote a cookbook titled "Sweet, Savory & Simple". Actually, her mom is "basically the author and curator"… but Jennifer's name will help make it a bestseller. Or, good seller. Pick up a copy at Sugarland.com.
Chris Janson has released his first-ever Christmas song. He went with the creative title, "It Is Christmas". He also dropped a warm and fuzzy video where he plays the piano, as friends and family get festive together. His wife Kelly and their four children are also in it.
It's fun to hear artists talk about the first time they heard one of their songs on the radio. Not that we're bragging, but it's a big deal. Okay, we're bragging. But there's another place that's cool to hear your song for the first time.
I'm talking about the Waffle House jukebox. They had the first-ever Tunie Awards last week, and they named Chris Stapleton as "Country Artist of the Year."
He even showed up to accept the award, or maybe he just happened to be there eating waffles. But he did say a few words. "I've had a lot of dreams come true, but one dream that I wanted is to have a song on the Waffle House jukebox.
"Not only did I get a song on the Waffle House jukebox, I got this fantastic award. So thank you so much, Waffle House. We love you… we're going to keep on eating you… and I just can't thank you enough."
Chris had the most country songs played. As far as most overall songs played, there's a Top 10 and "Tennessee Whiskey" was #6. Sam Hunt and Keith Urban also made the list. (Skip to 5:52 below to see Chris talking about his award).
Thanksgiving has Carrie Underwood in a "count your blessings" kind of mood. "I am thankful for definitely my family. I have the best kid in the world [and] another on the way, and I'm excited that my busy season is about to slow down and I'm going to really get to spend some time with them."
Meanwhile, Carrie's husband Mike Fisher hit up Instagram with props on her Oklahoma Hall of Fame induction. He wrote, "You've remained humble in success and never craved the attention or fame one bit. Thanks for always being the small town girl from Oklahoma even though you're one of the biggest stars."
Dan + Shay were up for four awards at last week's CMAs, but they came away empty-handed. They're not the first artists to get shut out like that, but it still hurts. Dan Smyers put his thoughts and feelings into an Instagram post & it’s so sad!
He says he spent a day allowing himself to be sad, and then looked to the future. Dan says, “I'm proud of what we've accomplished and will work even harder for our fans in 2019. Love to all who've been there for us. We're just getting started."
Kelsea Ballerini shut down an internet troll for body shaming her last week. The troll simply commented “lose some weight” and Kelsea was not having it, she responded to the troll with her young fans in mind.
Kelsea also said, “When I got the comment I was not having it that day, and I was just like it’s not fair for you this internet troll that’s behind a computer to say something that other girls are going to see on my comment feed and think that they need to do that, that’s not how it works”
Jimmy Kimmel rounded up some of his country music friends for the fourth installment of his popular late-night bit, Mean Tweets: Country Music Edition.Mean Tweets is simple, our favorite country stars read unflattering tweets about themselves and it always makes for a good laugh.
Ya’ll know how much I love Christmas and the holidays, and if you do too this is totally going to bring you some cheer! Brett Eldredge, Martina McBride, and Kellie Pickler will be performing for NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" on November 28th. They'll also help with the annual tree lighting ceremony. Other performers include Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Pentatonix, and John Legend.
Y100 Bud Light 8 Man Jam artist, Kane Brown released his second studio album today, ‘Experiment’! Kane says the title reflects the approach he took to the album, wanting to give fans a little bit of everything.
"Yeah, there's a couple love songs on there, but I feel like there's a song for a least one person, no matter what genre you like. And I love it,” said Kane. He proudly shares that a lot of time went into the making of this album.
“I put all my hard work and time into it. It took us a year to figure out what songs we wanted on the album. And I feel like it's a good record, so I feel like you should go check it out."
Experiment is available in stores and online today.
This Sunday is Veterans Day and Y100 Bud Light 8 Man Jam alumni, Justin Moore says his grandfathers emphasized the importance of respecting those who served.
“I had one grandfather in the Navy [and] another in the Air Force, so it was instilled in me at an early age to respect those men and women, you know, because of the sacrifices that they make on a daily basis are what keep us free and safe and the greatest country in the world."
Moore goes on to extend his personal thanks.
"For any time it went unsaid or felt like to our veterans that it went unnoticed what they do and have done for us, God bless you. We appreciate you more than you know.”
Lady Antebellum, one of the performers announced for the 2019 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo also emphasized their appreciation for veterans.
"I always go out of my way to thank people for their service when I see, you know, men and women in uniform. So, thank you to all those that serve, thank you for what you do, thank you for how much...You represent our country greatly and we are in debt to you and love you for what you do. Thank you."
Garth Brooks will be performing a new song at next week's CMAs. He hasn't released the title, but it sounds like it's about Trisha Yearwood because he's been referring to it as "Trisha's Song"… even though she hasn't heard it yet. She will hear it for the first time live on the CMAs. It's also going to be his next single and it'll be out the day after the show.
Garth didn’t reveal the title of the song, though he teased fans with the initials STN. He is taking bets on whether he can get through the performance without crying, and he jokes that Trisha is "a little worried. She said, 'Should I bring my Kleenex?'"
Zac Brown Band took part in Mickey's 90th Spectacular on ABC on Sunday, an event which celebrated Mickey Mouse's 90th birthday! The group were one of several acts who performed during an hour-long televised special, and chose a Disney classic for their moment.
The Zac Brown Band sang "Bare Necessities" from the 1967 animated Disney film The Jungle Book. Zac Brown Band was condensed to a four-piece for the performance, which included guitarist Clay Cook, fiddle player Jimmy De Martini and banjo player John Driskell Hopkins alongside their frontman, Brown.
Brett Young and wife Taylor Mills Young won't wait long to start planning a family. The couple shared that they hope kids are in their immediate future.
They talked to People Magazine after getting married on Saturday and Brett said they're ready now. "We've been together for a long time and we do want kids soon," he says. As always, we’ll keep you posted with any baby news! In the mean time here are some fun photos Brett’s wife Taylor shared on her Instagram recently.
Brett Young married his longtime girlfriend Taylor Mills on Saturday near Palm Springs. It was co-officiated by Brett's manager… and his father Brad, who's a pastor. Brett's 37, and Taylor is 31.
There were over 200 guests at the wedding. And the reception wasn't too shabby: Lee Brice was there and he sang "I Don't Dance". And Brett's old buddy Gavin DeGraw showed up to sing "More Than Anyone". And there’s also some talk that Luke Combs performed too! According to People, the two decided not to have a first look before Taylor walked down the aisle, and exchanged personalized vows during a ceremony that was officiated by Brett’s father, Brad, and Van Hazelitt, Brett's manager and groomsman. The couple shared their first dance to a special rendition of "Forever Young" and are now headed off to a "beachy honeymoon”… but not for long. He has to be back in Nashville by next Monday to receive his ASCAP country songwriter-artist of the Year honor.
Since George Strait retired with his Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, his appearances onstage have been few and far between--outside of his "Strait to Vegas" concerts. However, George has announced he will take the stage on March 30th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. He will be joined by Chris Stapleton, Chris Janson and Ashley McBryde.Tickets go on sale November 16th at 9am!
And speaking of Chris Stapleton it’s no surprise he’s very much in love with his wife Morgane. And so much so he announced over the weekend at a concert in New York that she's expecting their fifth child. And yes, you're remembering correctly… she just had twins seven months ago.
Remember Mason Ramsey. The 11-year-old “Walmart Boy” well now he’s dreaming of a "White Christmas" with the release of his spirited holiday single. Mason says, "White Christmas is the best holiday song and I've grown up listening to Michael Buble's version with Shania Twain," shares Ramsey. "It's also a song in 'Home Alone' too--my favorite movie to watch at Christmas!"
Tonight, ABC's Dancing With the Stars will get fans in a country state of mind for the upcoming CMA Awards on November 14th! You know I’m excited for the holidays so naturally when I saw this announcement yesterday I got super excited! The performers were announced for the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade"! Sugarland, Carly Pearce, Kane Brown, and Martina McBride will be performing at this year's parade! Other performers include Diana Ross, John Legend, Bad Bunny, Ella Mai, Pentatonix, Anika Noni Rose, and Rita Ora.
Carly Pearce is definitely excited about it, yesterday she Tweeted:
Speaking of performances The Country Music Association announced its third round of performers for the CMA Awards: Jason Aldean with Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks, Luke Combs, Midland, and Brett Young. Now, there's a pretty big question on everyone's mind about what will happen at the CMAs, and it's not about who's going to win. People are wondering if Carrie Underwood will have Brad Paisley "accidentally" reveal the sex of her baby, like he did in 2014.
There are similarities on why people are speculating this. Carrie and her husband Mike Fisher already know the sex, and they've even picked out a name. If it does happen again, it could create another "CMA moment"… and that's always good!
Tim McGraw shared a new song called “Gravity” and he’s feeling pretty good about it! One reason is because it’s in the movie “Free Solo”. And he co-wrote it with Lori McKenna, the same writer behind Tim’s song “Humble and Kind” so he’s kind of hoping the same magic will happen with this song.
A collection of our favorite country stars dressed up for Halloween of course and there we some good ones!
Raelynn dressed up as pregnant Kylie Jenner and it’s spot on:
I think Keith Urban dressed up as a Ninja and Nicole Kidman dressed up as the cat from Aristocats (Beth thinks):
Brett Eldredge paid tribute to “Jurassic World” and I love this, he put his dog Edgar in a T-Rex costume:
But by far my favorite Halloween costume of all was Jason Aldean and his family, he dressed up as Luke Skywalker, Baby Memphis was Yoda, and his wife Brittany is my new hero, she was in a FULL Chewbacca costume!
Speaking of Halloween the coaches on The Voice dressed up yesterday and sang a soulful version of Blake Shelton’s song “Honeybee” and it’s seriously so good you have to go over to our Y100 Facebook page though and see the video because Blake is dressed up as Batman, Adam Levine is Robin, Jennifer Hudson is Catwoman, and Kelly Clarkson is The Penguin.
Maren Morris recently gave fans a preview of her next studio album, posting a video of her performing a new song titled "To Hell and Back": Maren Morris: "I just couldn't help but tease it. And I played at a show a few nights ago just acoustic, and it's just been cool to see the response to it 'cause it's not like a single, but it is a taste of what's to come."
Last night during The Voice Knockout Rounds, San Antonio Local/Nashville Resident, Dave Fenley, went head-to-head with teammate Kameron Marlowe. Dave sang Stuck On You and Kameron sang I Shot the Sheriff:
Blake named Dave the winner of the Knockout round!
The Turnpike Troubadors released a statement saying they're canceling shows through November 29th. They called it a "situation" that needs their complete attention, because one of them is trying to "conquer issues."
They didn't say it's Evan Felker having those issues, but the general consensus is everyone is thinking it. His life's kind of been a mess ever since he got involved with Miranda Lambert. They broke up in August.
"Live at the Opry" released video of Darius Rucker and Chris Janson performing the Hank Williams Jr. classic, "Family Tradition". It's from a show they did back in August.
So I know we’re probably still a little upset the Astros didn’t make it all the way to the World Series BUT someone posted a great clip from the Boston Red Sox locker room after they won the World Series on Sunday. They're dancing and drinking, of course… but the best part is they’re singing along to Cody Johnson’s "Dance Her Home".
They captioned it, "A lot going on here… Mitch Moreland with the beer shower, Brock Holt singing, and Eduardo Rodriguez with the speaker on his shoulder."
Today’s Fun Facts:
The 2018 "CMA Country Christmas" special will air December 10th on ABC. Reba McEntire is hosting for the second straight year, and performers include Brad Paisley, Dan + Shay, Brett Eldredge, Dustin Lynch, Old Dominion, and Brett Young.
AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys released the video to his country song, "Night Visions". It looks like it’s trying to be a mini-movie which sure I get that’s cool, but I’m still having a hard time taking him seriously as a country artist since he came from BSB.
Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum shared the cutest photo EVER yesterday of her twin babies, Betsy and Emory, who passed the nine-month mark in style.
The photo shows the twin girls wearing the cutest pumpkin onsies, and the caption reads, "Happy 9 months little pumpkins. We sure love you!"
