Music City Minute: CMT Awards Performers, Mason Ramsey, & Lauren Alaina

The first round of performers have been revealed for the upcoming 2018 CMT Music Awards, so far confirmed Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Kelly Clarkson, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt! Additional performers will be added soon. The CMT Music Awards are hosted this year by Little Big Town, the fan-voted award show will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on June 6 at 7 PM!

Viral fame can be a hard thing to navigate. In the case of "Walmart Boy" Mason Ramsey, it was almost instant. His yodeling in Walmart video won him a spot playing at Coachella, and he's also been on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. He even has his very own record deal now!

Mason hasn’t let all this fame go to his head. He proved on Wednesday that he's still grounded enough to think of his friends. He posted a picture on Instagram with a buddy, and explained that he'd let his pal down due to his new work responsibilities that came up. However, he made sure to make good and give his friend a special gift to make up for it. A new Xbox One S and a stack of games.

The caption read, "This is my best friend Menno. A few weeks ago we were supposed to go to a baseball game but I had to cancel and go work on music in Nashville, I got to see him today and surprised him with this Xbox! Never forget your friends!"

So adorable. Mason may be only 11 years old, but he has a refreshingly mature outlook on his sudden fame. Last month he tweeted, "Twenty-eight days ago I was yodeling inside my local Walmart to 11 people. This past weekend I performed in front of 100,000 people at Stagecoach, it’s amazing what can happen in just a month."

Now here’s someone I can really relate to! Lauren Alaina and her boyfriend Alex Hopkins have been together for six years. Even though they're only 23 years old, people keep asking her why he hasn't put a ring on it!

She says"We've definitely talked about marriage, obviously. It's bound to come up at some point [but] we're pretty young.

"My parents got married really young and that didn't work out, but Alex's parents got married really young and they've been together for 30 years or something crazy, so I guess different strokes for different folks."

One thing's for sure, she’s clearly head over heels. She said, "He's the most attractive man I've ever seen. And the older we get, the more attractive he gets and I'm starting to be like, 'Glad we met at 17 because you are way cuter than me.'"

Music City Minute: The Voice, Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood

Florida Georgia Line is all-in on the collaboration thing. They've done songs with the Chainsmokers, Nelly, Hailee Steinfeld, the Backstreet Boys, plus their current hit with Bebe Rexha, "Meant to Be"

But according to Tyler Hubbard this is only the beginning. He said, "I think it'd be cool, if we're continuing to get out of the country world and do something out of our box. We've got a lot of respect for Bruno Mars. I think he's amazing.

"Justin Timberlake's amazing. I think we could do something cool together. You know who else is random that I think would be fun to work with is Cardi B. I don't know, that's so random, but I think that'd be cool." So, we will definitely keep you posted.

There's something interesting about hearing Sam Hunt say that he's ready to start a family. Maybe it's because he's made a few "Sexiest Male Country Star" lists. In a recent interview he was asked if he's thinking about having kids. He sure is.

Sam said, "Yeah. I've got more baby fever than my wife. But she's coming around. The past couple of weeks she's brought it up a couple of times." Sam and his wife Hannah Lee have been married a little over a year.

You've probably heard that Carrie Underwood’s husband Mike Fisher has officially retired from the NHL, again. He posted some thoughts on Instagram, and it sure sounds like he won't be changing his mind this time around. Mike said, “I’m so grateful for the last 18 years. It’s hard to believe how fast the time goes. I got the chance to play and work with so many incredible people along the way. God taught me some incredible life lessons through the game of hockey over the years and without the gift He gave me none of this would have been possible. Thanks for all the amazing memories! Lastly thanks to my friends and family for supporting me over the years. It’s been a blast!!”

Last night was the season finale of The Voice and it paid off in a big way, Kelly Clarkson’s team won! Brynn Cartelli, a high school freshman from Massachusetts, was crowned champion of “The Voice” Season 14, winning $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. She’s the show’s youngest winner ever at 15 years old. She beat out country singer Spensha Baker, soul powerhouse Kyla Jade and folk rocker Britton Buchanan, who was the runner-up. This was her blind audition from the beginning of the show:

Music City Minute: American Idol Finale, The Voice, Blake Shelton, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson!

Last night was the American Idol finale and the Top 3 contestants had a great time! Darius Rucker and Caleb Lee Hutchinson sang “Wagon Wheel”

Luke Bryan and Gabby Barrett sang “Most People Are Good”

And then Maddie Poppe somehow got stuck singing with Kermit the Frog and they sang “Rainbow Connection”

Then the narrowed it down to the final two contestants and America was SHOCKED when Gabby Barrett was eliminated, leaving Caleb Lee Hutchison and Maddie Poppe left. After being announced as the Top 2, they shared with America they are now a couple, and were then randomly gifted two trips to Hawaii. Then the couple performed “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “What A Wonderful World”

And then finally in the last 5 minutes of the two-hour season finale, Maddie Poppe was announced as this year’s American Idol winner!

Last night was also an important night on The Voice, the Top 4 performed including San Antonio’s own Spensha Baker! She sang Kacey Musgraves “Merry Go Round”

Tonight Kane Brown will return for a special performance of his single "What Ifs." The finale will kick off at 7 PM on NBC.

This should be fun! Blake Shelton will be replacing Kathie Lee on the June 6th edition of the "Today Show". He and Hota Kotb will be at Blake's Ole Red bar in Nashville doing a pre-party for the "CMT Music Awards", which is going down that night. They'll also be announcing the five finalists for Video of the Year.

And all week at 8:45 we have Cody Johnson tickets and meet and greets for the show this Saturday at Whitewater!

WATCH: New Braunfels Man Learns How Style Wife’s Hair

True love knows no limits and for one New Braunfels couple; their love is beginning to go viral.

An apprentice hairstylist captured a heartwarming Facebook video of the elderly couple during a hair appointment at The Foundry Salon in New Braunfels, Texas. The stylist posted in the caption that the client in the video “can no longer style her hair herself” -- so the husband took action.

From learning about the proper hair products to proper brushing methods while blow-drying; the New Braunfels man attentively took note on how to do all these things while the stylist thoroughly explained each tip.

It was apparent that he really wanted to learn as evidenced by his attention to detail; he even asks specific questions about particular styling methods... it’s safe to say this likely wasn’t on his “honey do list”!

Check out the sweet moment below! Guys - take notes!

Music City Minute: Billboard Music Awards, Jason Aldean, TV Tonight!

A lot of our favorite country stars made an appearance at last night's "Billboard Music Awards". They include Brett Young with his fiancée Taylor Mills, Luke Combs and his girlfriend Nicole Hocking, plus Maren Morris, Kelly Clarkson, Walmart yodeling kid Mason Ramsey, and Taylor Swift. You can check out the photos of everyone looking snazzy here. Plus a performance everyone is talking about from Maren Morris when she sang “The Middle”.

Also a huge congratulations to our country winners:

Top Country Artist:Chris Stapleton Top Country Male Artist:Chris Stapleton Top Country Female Artist:Maren Morris Top Country Duo/Group Artist:Florida Georgia Line Top Country Tour:Luke Bryan

Now there’s another situation where someone is claiming country artist stole their song. A Canadian musician is accusing the songwriters behind Jason Aldean's "You Make It Easy" of plagiarizing a song he wrote called "Easy". His name is Connor Shaw.

He wrote it for a music class back in 2015… and then recorded a rough version that he posted online. A family friend in Nashville liked it and asked him to send a demo and she "would send it around." He sent it last fall but didn't hear anything.

And then in February he heard "You Make It Easy", which was written by Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, plus Morgan Wallen and Jordan Schmidt.

He felt ripped off and posted clips of both songs. People agreed with him, including an entertainment lawyer who said he'd "never heard two songs sound so similar." He had the lawyer send a cease-and-desist order to Florida Georgia Line's attorney.

Well, the response from FGL's lawyer made it clear they'd have a fight on their hands if they planned to continue. A fight that would cost a whole lot of money.

If you're interested, Connor Shaw posted a thread on Twitter that documents the whole saga. It includes a side-by-side audio comparison plus lyrical similarities.

And tonight on TV there’s a lot going on! The 16th season finale of "American Idol" at 8:00 p.m. on ABC. The three finalists are Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, and Maddie Poppe. Last night they each sang three songs, and if you missed it, here’s a song from each of them to hold you over until tonight!

"The Voice" at 7:00 p.m. on NBC. Part 1 of the live finale. The final four are Brynn Cartelli, Kyla Jade, Britton Buchanan, and Spensha Baker. The winner is crowned tomorrow night.

"Miss USA" at 7:00 p.m. on Fox. Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa host the two-hour competition. The best might part might be that Lee Brice is performing and so is 98 Degrees.

Music City Minute: Miranda Lambert, Dan + Shay, Darius Rucker, George Strait

Dan + Shay held an Instagram live video on last night to announce the release of their self-titled third studio album coming out on June 22. The 11-track album will include their current Top 10 single "Tequila," as well as a collaboration with Kelly Clarkson titled "Keeping Score." Fans who pre-order the album will instantly receive the song "Tequila," as well as their newly released tracks, "All To Myself" and "Speechless." The song speechless features their wives and it’s so sweet. In the Instagram live Dan said they crushed the production on this album, and we're very very proud of it. He said, he feels like this is gonna be the most important album that we've ever put out.

Darius Rucker will be on American Idol Monday for a special performance during part two of the show's live two-night season finale. Some of the other stars on the two-night finale line-up include Bebe Rexha, Patti LaBelle, and Nick Jonas. It’s getting tense as the final 3 Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe compete for the crown! The episode will air live at 8:00 PM on ABC.

I guess this means Miranda Lambert and Turnpike Troubadors singer Evan Felker are still going strong. He filed a "scheduling order" on Tuesday to end his relationship with his wife Staci. Seems he's afraid she might try to "unduly delay" the divorce.

A source says, Staci is surprised by her estranged husband’s motion and she too is eager to move on. “Anyone who actually speaks to Staci knows she has wanted out of this marriage for months. Evan is the one who disappeared again and changed his phone number,” claims the insider. “They both planned to end this quietly. Stacy has never wanted to go to court and Evan told Stacy he did not want to either, so there is probably someone a little more powerful dictating all of this.”

The same day that Evan filed the motion, Staci shared a cryptic message via social media about their relationship. The brunette beauty posted a picture of a book cover via Instagram with the title reading, “WELL I WAS CLEARLY MORE INTO THAT THAN YOU WERE: A LOVE STORY.”

Today is George Strait’s birthday and we are celebrating by hookin’ you up with tickets to see him at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin June 3rd all day at 8:40, 10:40, 12:40, 2:40, & 4:40!

Music City Minute: Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Thompson Square, Carrie Underwood

Blake Shelton's new Ole Red Nashville will officially celebrate its grand opening during CMA Fest on June 6-10. The restaurant, bar and music venue will host multiple events throughout the week, including a "Blake Shelton and Friends" concert following the CMT Awards on June 6, where Blake will be on hand to christen the new Ole Red Nashville stage. The show will also feature a few special guest performers, who will be announced at a later date. Tickets for Blake’s performance won't go on sale to the public, but fans who want to attend will be able to enter for a chance to win a coveted spot inside. Fans can enter to win by visiting - fans who don't win tickets can stream the first three songs from the event live on Ole Red Nashville's Facebook page at 11 PM CT.

Keith Urban is known for his guitar skills, so it's pretty cool to hear him go unplugged on the piano. He posted a clip the other day of himself performing his song "Parallel Line".

Thompson Square shared the track list for their new album, "Masterpiece", which is due out June 1st. This is their first new album in some five years. They went through a "transformative period"… that included becoming parents to their son Rigney, who was born in 2016.

It seems like the album will offer an eclectic mix of sounds, blending the genres of R&B, rock and even reggae. This is the title track of the album “Masterpiece”

Carrie Underwood has been working quite hard of late promoting her latest single, "Cry Pretty," as well as appearing on the latest episode of American Idol last Sunday. So it only makes sense that she'd be ready to relax for a few days...and it appears from her social media she's doing just that.

Carrie posted a series of photos of herself, husband Mike Fisher, and son Isaiah enjoying some time in California's beautiful Napa Valley. She's actually there for a work purpose of headlining the Live in the Vineyard festival – but she’s also found time to have fun, she did some wine tasting on her trip, as well as a special meal that her little boy apparently helped to prepare in her photo share (flip through to see).

"Napa Valley, you are my happy place," she captioned the photos. "Amazing wine, beautiful scenery, wonderful friends, new places and a yummy dinner created by @chefchiarello and his apprentice, Isaiah Fisher! And that was just the first day here! Life is good..."

Music City Minute: Florida Georgia Line, Jennifer Nettles, Kane Brown, Blake Shelton, The Voice

Florida Georgia Line is expanding their empire! A new FGL Boat House establishment is in the works in Florida. The guys shared a concept rendering of the future FGL Boat House on Instagram yesterday along with a caption saying, "Anyone else think an FGL Boat House needs to happen in Florida?! Welp, maybe it is." The picture shows a large, multi-level venue that's overlooking a spacious pool and deck area. It looks like a place you could go to relax and enjoy a cold drink. The guys didn't say which part of the state FGL Boat House would be located in, but an eagle eye look at the Instagram video seems to place it somewhere along the Florida Panhandle near the scenic Highway 30A and Choctawhatchee Bay, kind of near the Destin area. Then in a separate video, Brian Kelley turned the camera on himself and said:Brian Kelley: "I guess maybe BK maybe had a couple drinks at lunch and decided to maybe spill some beans about, you know, an FGL Boat House. Maybe that happens."

Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland gave a commencement speech at her alma mater, Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia over the weekend.

She admitted to being nervous, which is ironic considering she performs for a living. She also joked about pulling all-nighters and being "over-served" when she was a student.

Agnes Scott is a women's college so most of her comments were, obviously, meant to inspire the next generation of females.

She said, "I want you to be fearless dream warriors. I want you to be the boss ladies of your own lives. I want you to live authentically in your truth. I want you to be so in touch with your truth that nothing can pull you off of your path."

She talked about overcoming discrimination, "I want you to be clear and to know that it will be harder for you as a woman to do it all… to have a dream and a job and a relationship and a family.\

"And if you are a woman of color, it will be even harder. I want you to be fierce for yourselves then and for each other, and fight to change all of that."

And she told the graduates to never, ever settle, "I want you to be curious women. Let your favorite questions be 'What if?' and 'Why not?' Instead of 'Why me?' Why not ask, 'Why NOT me?'

"Somebody has to live her best life, achieve her goals, find love and fulfill all her dreams. Might as well be you, right? That's how I look at it. Might as well be me. Might as well be you. [It] should be you living her best life and fulfilling her dreams."

(The part about being "over-served" comes at 4:10. The "fearless dream warriors" is at 6:00. Fighting "discrimination" is at 7:30. And she urges them to be "curious women" at 15:46.)

Last night eight contestants before four on The Voice but first before we found out if San Antonio girl Spensha Baker made it to the finale we got to see some performances! Kane Brown performed his song “Heaven”:

Blake Shelton performed “I Lived It”:

When we got to the actual results, Spensha Baker, Brynn Cartelli, and Kyla Jake were granted a place in the finale, and then Pryor Baird, Kaleb Lee, and Britton Buchanan, had to basically do a sing off for one last chance to return to the stage on next Monday night. When it got down to it, Britton was saved!

This is great news for us! Our San Antonio girl Spensha Baker moves on to the finale next week and we’ll continue to cheer her on Monday at 7!

Music City Minute: The Voice, Maren Morris, Sam Hunt

Last night kicked off the semifinals on The Voice and the Top 8 performed including San Antonio’s own Spensha Baker! She sang an awesome cover of Maren Morris’s “My Church”:

After her performance Blake just went crazy saying, "It’s like everything she’s been holding back this entire season, the dam just broke," he went on to say this is the best time for this breakthrough to happen. And that he would be shocked if she wasn’t in the finale.

Make sure you’re watching tonight to see who makes it to the Finals next week. Tonight’s special episode will also include a performance from Blake Shelton and Kane Brown.

Speaking of Maren Morris, she has been writing music for her next album, and was asked recently if getting married has changed her lyrical approach.

She said, "The lyrics are more grown-up. I recorded my debut album when I was 24… I'm 28 now. Doesn't feel like that long ago, but a lot has happened in that chunk of time. I'm in a healthier headspace [and] less judgmental of myself."

Maren also says she's been feeling the pressure to make sure her second album doesn't fall flat. Fortunately, she got some great advice from Keith Urban about that. He told her not to overthink it. He said every album is a snapshot of that artist's life at that time… so "focus on being there"… and then move on.

You can see Maren performing with Zedd & Grey to perform their song "The Middle" at Sunday's "Billboard Music Awards".

This is interesting. Sam Hunt has been out of the music scene for a while, a lot of people are assuming he’s enjoying being a newlywed or maybe working hard on some new music. Well… instead of talking about all the exciting new music he's coming up with, Sam Hunt admits he's got nothing to say.

He said, "It's hard to explain to folks who aren't necessarily writing songs or in this business. When I'm singing a song as an artist, there's only so much that I really want to say or have to say. I haven't had a whole lot to say in the past year.

"So I've been writing songs that I don't really feel are representing me, so I haven't put out a record in the past year."

He has been recording some of those songs, and a new single will be out in the next few weeks. He's also going on tour at the end of the month… and is hoping that'll light the fire.

Sam went on to say, "I'm just looking forward to getting on the road. I have a lot of ambitions but I don't know. I just haven't really found that inspiration yet. I think it's just taking the time to find the inspiration while on the road."

Music City Minute: American Idol Recap, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan

Last night American Idol went from the Top 5 down to the Top 3! Contestants performed a song from the catalog of Carrie Underwood and a Mother’s Day related song. Maddie Pope sang Carrie Underwood’s “I Told You So” and put her own twist on it.

Caleb Lee Hutchinson also made it in to the Top 3 with his version of Carrie Underwood’s “So Small”

And my favorite contestant since the beginning, our country girl Gabby Barrett sang “Last Name” and killed it in her performance as usual!

The Top 3 will compete again for America’s Vote as the American Idol two-night finale begins LIVE next Sunday at 7pm on ABC!

Speaking of American Idol – Luke Bryan got a big surprise on the show last night for Mother’s Day. Luke’s Mom made an unannounced visit live on the show! It was super cute Luke’s Mom LeClaire sent what seemed to be a taped message to her son:

"Hi Luke," she started in the clip. "I miss you here on Mother’s Day. (I) wish I could be with you. I’m having a good day down here at the beach. Wish you were here with me. I’m very proud of you. I’m getting excited about the night. I get to watch American Idol one more time. Love you. Call you in the morning. I have something to tell you about fishing."

The Nashville Predators were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs on Thursday, Carrie Underwood shared a video on Instagram of her son, Isaiah, helping his dad, Mike Fisher, shave off his playoff beard. In the video, the 3-year-old can be seen taking an electric trimmer to his dad's face as they sit in the bathroom and Carrie films the whole thing. The caption said, "Prediction: This won't end well..." Carrie then posted a picture of special moment on Instagram Stories, writing, "Saving $$$ on grooming now that he's out of a job." The Preds' heartbreaking loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 7 of their series brought an end to the team's playoff run, and it also likely marked the end of Mike’s NHL career, as he's expected to retire again after this season. After the game, Carrie took to Twitter to share a message of support for her husband and the team he's played with for so many years.Carrie tweeted, "Welp, to me & our 3 year-old, @mikefisher1212 is the greatest hockey player alive & the @PredsNHL are now & forever the greatest hockey team in NHL history! Not the ending we wanted, but we're alive & well & I get my hubby back, so I say God is good!"
