When Rob Anderson approached Alan McCracken on a Las Vegas street corner, the homeless veteran was more than just a little suspicious.

That suspicion turned to shock after Anderson started tearing up McCracken's sign.

But just when it seemed that McCracken was being victimized by a cruel stranger, Anderson revealed it was all a magic trick, restoring the sign and producing  a number of dollar bills, much to the amazement of McCracken.

And Anderson didn’t stop there. The kindhearted trickster also set up a GoFundMe page for his veteran friend that so far has raised over $15,000 so far.

"Since filming the video, I have located Alan again and gotten to know him," Anderson said on his GoFundMe page. "Alan is just as kind in person as he appears in the video.  He can often be seen in downtown Las Vegas with a large sign that says 'SMILE,' just trying to bring a smile to strangers' faces, even if they don't give him any money."

Anderson posted this update on the GoFundMe page Thursday morning:

Alan has been able to get assistance in temporarily getting off the streets through the VA here in Las Vegas. He is currently sleeping on a bunk bed in a room with 3 other veterans, and has his meals and other basic necessities provided by the VA. When I spoke with him, he had his usual positive attitude about his situation, and is optimistic about his search for a job now that he has temporary housing provided for him.
