| San Antonio Public Library to Host Asian Pacific Heritage Month Events in May As part of its commemoration of Asian Pacific History Month in May, the San Antonio Public Library will host several programs system-wide. | SApets.com Reuniting lost pets SApets.com just celebrated 10 years of helping the lost, found, pound, and adoptable pets of San Antonio. If your pet is lost then come to www.SApets.com and view the home page which lists current pets at the San Antonio ACS. Also while at SApets.com upload a photo and description of your lost pet and then click over to the Found page to see if someone has already found your pet. SApets.com also lists adoptable pets from several San Antonio pet rescue organizations. A new feature to SApets.com is the listing of the ACS pets that are at the Brooks kennel including maps of how to get to that kennel. Donations to SApets.com are welcome in order to help with the fees such as the annual ACS fee. SApets.com is a software database project designed and maintained by Jay Pennington which just celebrated 10 years of helping San Antonio’s lost pets get back home resulting in fewer pets being put down in the shelters. | Teen Services at San Antonio Public Library Now Accepting Applications for National News Know-how Media Literacy Program San Antonio Public Library is currently accepting applications for its “News Know-how” program, a two-week media literacy program for teens grades 10 -12. There are 15 participant openings and the program will run July 22 – August 2, 2013 at Central Library. Applications will be accepted through May 25, 2013. All participants must commit to the full two weeks and complete a final team project due in November. The 15 selected participants will receive a small stipend. Interested teens can apply at www.surveymonkey.com/s/JP55K2B . After May 25, all applicants will be contacted by Teen Services regarding application status. | McNay Art Museum Celebrates Fiesta with Current Exhibition Fiesta, Fete, Festival &The McNay celebrates Fiesta with the exhibition Fiesta, Fête, Festival currently on view through June 9. This exhibition, in partnership with Fiesta, moves from San Antonio to Seville, Venice, Versailles, St. Petersburg, and other cities to celebrate some of the world's great festivals. | Bexar County launches pilot arts summer internship program The application period for Bexar County’s inaugural Arts Internship Program is officially open. Bexar County is funding 9 summer internships with local nonprofit arts organizations to allow the nonprofits an opportunity to offer a paid 10-week summer internship to attract motivated college students to work on seasonal or special projects. Students selected to participate will develop a closer understanding of how the arts benefit their community, along with real world application of business skills which can then be applied to their individual careers. | Four Parks and Recreation Pools will kick off an early swim season on Saturday, May 4 In a continuing effort to offer our citizens even more fitness opportunities, the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department will operate four regional pools beginning Saturday, May 4, and continuing through Thursday, June 13. The regional pools are Heritage, 1423 Ellison Dr.; Lady Bird Johnson, 10700 Nacogdoches; South Side Lions, 3100 Hiawatha; and Woodlawn, 221 Alexander Ave. Admission is free. Lap swimming will be offered Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and open swimming will be offered Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. In addition, the four regional pools will be open in celebration of the Memorial Day weekend to include Saturday, May 25, Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27, from 1 to 7 p.m. The regular outdoor pool season that includes all 24 outdoor pools begins on Saturday, June 15 and continues through Sunday, Aug. 18.
