Lauren Alaina’s ACM Nomination Reaction Is Amazing!

(The Boot) It's safe to say that Lauren Alaina is pretty darn excited about her 2017 ACM Awards nomination for New Female Vocalist of the Year. After nominations were announced on Thursday morning (Feb. 16), Alaina was on social media freaking out about seeing her name among this year's list of nominees.

"WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT OH MY GOSH," Alaina tweeted just after 8AM on Thursday morning, mere minutes after New Female Vocalist of the Year nominees were revealed. Alaina was traveling when she heard the news and, in a follow-up tweet, admitted, "I'm literally crying in the airport."

Alaina followed up a short time later with a brief video, thanking her fans "for believing in me and sticking by me." Along with the video, she tweeted, "I am having the best morning ever. Five years and I'm finally nominated. I'm so thankful."

“Oh my gosh. My heart may explode,” Alaina writes on Instagram. “I couldn’t be happier. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

Alaina first made a name for herself when she placed second during Season 10 of American Idol in 2011. She released her first album, Wildflower, in 2011, and a self-titled EP in 2015; her sophomore disc, Road Less Traveled, dropped in January. In the lead-up to the project's release, Alaina opened up about her struggle with bulimia, and how she conquered — and continues to conquer — the disease that almost ended her career.

Alaina will be competing against CamBrandy Clark and Maren Morris for New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards. The awards ceremony is set to take place in Las Vegas, Nev., on April 2, and air live on CBS beginning at 7! For the first time ever, the show will take place at T-Mobile Arena; Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley will return as co-hosts.
