Karon Wright was fired from her job as a counselor at Andrew Jackson Middle school in Grand Praire Texas after the message appeared on the Facebook page of WFAA TV in Dallas.
The message said:
"It's amazing how the 'whites' get angry when Obama speaks," the comment read. "Oh well....its most of the whites who is getting blown away. So they will soon be wiped from the earth. Lol"
The comments came after WFAA posted President Obama’s remarks on their Facebook page following the explosion of the fertilizer factory in the Texas city of West.
There were negative comments about the president followed by Wright’s message.
The Grand Prairie school district called the statement “highly offensive, insensitive to the tragedy happening to our friends and neighbors in West, and disrespectful to the very human bond that we share with the people of West, especially those who have lost their loved ones.”
The comment went viral quickly and was shared with other social media sites. Some of the reponses included the name of the school where Wright worked and contact information for her supervisors.
WFAA removed the statement from their page but by then the school had made the decision to fire Ms. Wright.
Wright has responded by denying the actions and saying her Facebook account was hacked.
Wright wrote to WFAA saying;
“My Facebook account was hacked and the statement that was made is not of my character. I am a school counselor who will never 1) jeopardize my family, 2) jeopardize my job, and 3) jeopardize the trust of the students, parents, staff, faculty, and administration of GPISD.”
WFFA’s website also reports Wright has hired an attorney and filed a complaint with Facebook.
