Liza Long, a writer, educator and blogger who writes on coping with her son’s mental illness, will speak on her experiences in children’s mental health issues. The day after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn., Long wrote the blog “I am Adam Lanza’s Mother,” which sparked a national discussion about the struggles facing children with mental health disorders and their families. The event takes place at the Oblate School of Theology’s Whitley Conference Center, 285 Oblate Drive, San Antonio. The event, which is co-sponsored by 1in5Minds.org, Clarity Child Guidance Center and the Oblate School of Theology, is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required.
