The South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Healthy Business Summit and Exposition September 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Palo Alto College’s Performing Arts Center, 1400 Villaret Drive. The expo is free and open to the public. Tickets to the afternoon luncheon and awards ceremony start at $40.
The Summit opens at 9 a.m. with a free exposition featuring exhibitors focused on health and wellness resources, followed by a free Zumba class at 10 a.m. presented by Inspiration 4 Life. The Chamber is still accepting applications for exhibitor booths, which cost $200 with special pricing for non-profits.
“Our goal in this annual event is to support businesses in the southern sector and throughout San Antonio by building healthier families and a healthier workforce through education, awareness and resources,” says Tom Shaw, president of the South San Antonio Chamber. “Attendees will be exposed to the positive impact of having healthy employees and learn how to implement wellness programs in their organizations. “
An educational luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and features a panel discussion on best practices in employee wellness. The panel includes leading health and wellness experts from Toyota, San Antonio Water System, BiblioTech Library, the City of San Antonio and Get Fit SATX.
Following the panel, the South San Antonio Chamber will present its 2013 Healthy Workplace Best Practice Awards. This year’s awards go to San Antonio Water System; Padgett, Stratemann & Co, LLP; Broadway Bank; Westin Riverwalk; Southwest ISD and Jefferson Bank.
