Mark your calendar! This fall Mike Arms is coming back to San Antonio and he has brought his team with him. Renee Rescko, VIce President of Developement and Jessica Gercke, Public Relations Manager for the Helen Woodward Center will join Mike to share their expertise and help San Antonians tailor their campaigns to meet the needs of the community. They understand that no-kill isn't just animal rescuers or the spay/neuter it is the entire community working together toward the shared goal of becoming a no-kill city. Join us to learn how you can make a difference in pet overpopulation here in San Antonio.
These experts will give us direction that will help San Antonio continue with positive momentum to our final destination, which is to become No Kill by 2015. A light snack will be provided by the San Antonio Area Foundation.
Keynote Speaker Mike Arms
Helen Woodward Animal Center President Michael Arms is back in San Antonio this year to help us fine tune our amazing marketing skills that we developed last year while he was here. He is a pioneer in the animal welfare industry and recognized worldwide as the creator of both the International Pet Adoptathon and "Iams Home 4 the Holidays."
Since Mike’s arrival in 1999, the Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego, California has grown dramatically. For more than 30 years, the No-Kill Center has provided humane care and animal adoption for orphaned animals, as well as animal-centered educational and therapeutic programs for people. The Center is a dynamic, evolving institution that is an agent of change for the animal welfare world.
Renee Resko, Panel Discussion Topic Expert (Fundraising)
Renee Resko is the Vice President of Development at Helen Woodward Animal Center and has been at the Center for 14 years. She oversees the Center’s Special Events, Major Gifts, Donor Relations, Planned Giving, Public Relations and its new resale store. Renee has traveled with Mike to provide educational workshops to organizations across the country and around the world including Puerto Rico and Orlando, Florida. She has worked in the non-profit field in San Diego for over 20 years, since graduating from University of San Diego. Renee graduated from USD in 1993 with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in History. Renee has a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from National Univeristy and is devoted in her volunteer efforts to helping children and animals. Renee is the founder and former President of Turtleback Education Foundation, sits on the auction committee for Meadowbrook Foundation’s annual fund raising event, and is on the Advisory Board of United Through Reading. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 4 years and a Science Olympiad Coach and Assistant Coach at the middle school level.
