Food | Wine,
Health | Wellness,
Michael Wargovich, Ph.D., who is investigating the cancer prevention properties in traditional medicines and in food still commonly eaten in developing countries. The theory is that these substances have anti-inflammatory properties and that we’ve gotten away from them, and that’s one big contributor to our higher rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, other chronic diseases, obesity, etc. (although longer lifespans do open us up to higher risks for cancer as well).
Dr. Wargovich will be giving a presentation that is free and open to the public on this topic April 11, with time for Q&A. He will be working with Chef Iverson Brownell, who be doing a cooking demonstration. Unlike the usual CTRC public information lecture, this one will be off campus so we’ll have access to a demonstration kitchen and can host a large crowd. We’ll be at the H-E-B Partner Health Center, 4949 Rittiman Road, Thursday, April 11th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. For more information call 210-450-1152.
