CMA Nominees Announced, Jason Aldean’s Nursery Photo, & Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Tribute Video!

The nominees we’re announced yesterday for the CMA awards November 8th! Topping the list was Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert each with 5! Little Big Town is right behind them with four nominations, and that has people talking because Taylor Swift got her first nomination in three years because she wrote their song “Better Man”.

As far as snubs, Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean got completely shut out with no nominations. Which is crazy because they were everywhere last year! And of course we had to point out, our station KCYY is nominated for station of the year! So thank you everyone for listening, keep your fingers crossed and we’ll find out who wins all of the awards November 8th when Brad and Carrie host for the 10th year in a row!

Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany are getting ready for the baby! Over the weekend the couple shared a picture of their gorgeous nursery that has giant light up letters spelling out Memphis, which I think is just the cutest country name ever. Jason also recently shared a sonogram photo of his son on Instagram, showing the little guy making an inappropriate hand gesture. And Jason seems to be pretty happy about his baby's apparent bird flipping, he said, "This is how you know ur kid is gonna be a badass!!! #johnnycashspirit #liloutlaw"

An update on Miranda Lambert and her MuttNation charity, they are up to rescuing or relocating over 200 dogs that were affected by Hurricane Harvey. They moved dogs from overloaded shelters in Texas to Oklahoma, so that dogs misplaced by the hurricane could stay closer to where they'd been found. She also posted a video tribute to her team.

Chris Young Cries, Miranda Lambert Helps Lost Harvey Dogs, And New Music From Eric Church!

Chris Young’s been a busy guy lately he donated $100,000 to help with Hurricane Harvey relief, and Tuesday night he became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. Vince Gill surprised Chris with an invitation to join during what Chris though was a regular performance and celebration of their song together “Sober Saturday Night”. Since it was a surprise to Chris, naturally he got super emotional.

Speaking of Hurricane Harvey Miranda Lambert and her MuttNation team have been doing amazing work rescuing animals displaced by Harvey. They took a truck of 70 lost dogs and took them to an Oklahoma shelter, and turned around to head back and pick up more. You can contribute to Miranda’s efforts at Muttnation.com

Eric Church is kind of known for being unpredictable and surprising his fans, well yesterday Eric posted a video that shows concerts clips along with an announcement that read, “61 Days in Church.” There was then another at the end saying, “Relive the Holdin’ My Own Tour available Friday.”

Now everyone’s speculating what this all means… they’re saying he’s going to release a total of 122 live songs through Apple Music but not all at once. The first 30 will be available for streaming tomorrow, and he’ll release the rest over the next two weeks. Eventually, September 15th he’ll release the songs on other streaming platforms, there won’t actually be a physical release of the album. And of course you’ll be able to see some of these songs live in Austin next Thursday when he performs with Elle King at the Austin 360 Amphitheater.

Florida Georgia Line And Backstreet Boys On TV Tonight + Coldplay’s New Song About Houston

Tonight is the night we’ve been waiting for! Florida Georgia Line and Backstreet Boys fans they are performing together tonight at 9! I’m most excited for this because it’s like our favorite boyband from back in the day is teaming up with our favorite country duo! The guys will harmonize together on several BSB and FGL songs! Here’s a little taste of “As Long As You Love Me” more to come tonight on CMT Crossroads at 9!

Speaking of Florida Georgia Line the guys will be on the Today show Friday morning for a beach bash! Catch them performing their new single “Smooth” in the 10 AM hour to kick off Labor Day weekend!

Now we know the band Coldplay isn’t country, but the guys in the band grew up loving country music, and have played a lot of shows in Texas. The guys of Coldplay actually had to cancel their Friday show in Houston because of Harvey. So, at their show Monday night in Miami they stopped to play a song they wrote for the people in Houston, and the lyrics will give you chills.

North East Independent School District Votes To Change Name of Robert E. Lee High School

North East Independent School District trustees voted 7-0 on Tuesday to change the name of Robert E. Lee High School. The trustees noted that the change wouldn’t occur until around the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

Back in 2015, trustees voted 5-2 to keep the name after many considered it a link to a racist past. After the recent events in Charlottesville, Robert E. Lee High School again became a subject of debate. Various petitions arose to fight for both sides; one petition for changing the name garnered over 3,500 signatures while another petition against changing the name racked up over 6,000 signatures.

Information from MySA.com was used in this article; you can read more on the name change here.

Brothers Osborne will also close out GMA's Labor Day broadcast with a performance of their song "It Ain’t My Fault."

Billy Currington fans new music is here! The song is called “Wake Me Up” and it’s the fifth single from his album Summer Forever. We think it’s going to be another number one hit for Billy!

Lee Brice & Wife Sara’s Daughter Truelee Gets Baptized!

Lee Brice and his wife Sara welcomed their third child, precious baby girl Trulee Nanette Brice into the world June 2nd. Over the weekend, she was baptized and the photo his wife Sara shared on her Instagram will just tug at your heart strings. We couldn’t be happier for the couple and little Trulee!

Hurricane Harvey Help & Hope

Chris Young started a GO Fund Me account to help his friends and those affected by hurricane Harvey in Texas with a large donation yesterday.

Lady Antebellum is also stepping up to help those in need. They’re taking all the money made from their merchandise sales at their show in Dallas over the weekend and donating it to Harvey relief efforts.

Music helps people cope and make it through tough times, so we wanted to leave you with a song of uplifting hope - Kevin Fowler’s “Texas Forever” as Texas, we will make it through.

How To Help

Red Cross

The Red Cross is mobilizing trained Red Cross disaster relief workers to support this response effort, and has more than shelters ready to open and support thousands of people if needed. Trailers full of shelter and relief supplies have been pre-positioned including cots, blankets, comfort and cleaning supplies.

Donate: Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has already begun collecting funds to help those affected by the storm. Though most people think of donating clothing or household items first, SA spokesperson Alvin Migues, said physical donations can be a challenge during a disaster.

“Then you have to spend manpower to deal with sorting and other things as they come into the warehouses instead of having those folks out in the field doing the work," he said. "So, we always asked people to send a cash donation instead,” he said.

Donate: You can donate cash online at disaster.salvationarmyusa.org or by phone at 1-800-725-2769.

South Texas Blood and Tissue Center

The STBTC is in need of blood donations. The center says although O negative and O positive blood is at critically low levels, all blood type donations are welcome. The center is asking the public in the San Antonio and New Braunfels areas to donate right now.

Donate: Visit southtexasblood.org or call 210-731-5590 to schedule an appointment to donate blood.

Texas Diaper Bank

"Diapers are not provided by disaster relief agencies," the TDB posted on Facebook Friday. To alleviate that need, the TDB is requesting donations of cash and diapers to provide emergency diaper kits for families that are being displaced due to Hurricane Harvey.

Donate: Visit the donation page at texasdiaperbank.org and designate your donation for Disaster Relief.

San Antonio Food Bank

The San Antonio Food Bank has been hard at work. Their disaster expenses are not budgeted so they’re asking for your help to continue to meet the need of families seeking shelter in our community. Donate here.

Michael Ray Back In SA + New Music From Taylor Swift & Chris Young!

Michael Ray is coming back to San Antonio! Tickets are on sale right now for the show October 14th! Remember Michael Ray performed at our Y100 8 Man Jam last year, here’s “Think A Little Less” to hold you over until Cowboys!

Taylor Swift fans it’s really happening!!! After clearing all of her social media accounts to leave the world wondering what her next move will be… Taylor confirmed yesterday after three years, her new album, Reputation, is coming Nov. 10. Even better news, we don’t have to wait that long to hear new music, the first single comes out tonight!

Taylor also revealed the album cover art for her sixth album on Instagram yesterday, sporting slicked back hair, ripped t-shirt, and a choker. The most intriguing part of the album cover to me, is the newspaper in the background. It leaves a lot to the imagination that this album is going to be all about the rumors, the feuds, and everything that’s been going on in Taylor’s life that’s been in the news over the last couple of years. We can’t wait for the new single tonight!

Speaking of big announcements – Chris Young also made one yesterday on Facebook Live! He told fans his new album “Losing Sleep” is coming out October 20th! He also said the song “Losing Sleep” isn’t what the whole album sounds like, that there will also be traditional country tracks on there too. Which is exciting, because those are our favorite type of Chris Young songs!
