Music City Minute: Eric Church + Tim & Faith Both Have New Songs!

(CMT.com) You can see it every night that they’re on stage. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are still spontaneously combusting, 21 years after they got married.

Quick history: The two country stars met when Faith was opening for Tim on the Spontaneous Combustion tour, they fell in love, and they got hitched on Oct. 6, 1996.

So now that their 21st wedding anniversary is today it sounds like they’re definitely not planning to give each other the traditional gift of brass for this one. Instead they’re releasing a BRAND NEW song today called “The Rest Of Our Life” and it sounds like this could be a potential first dance song at weddings!

Faith says when it comes to anniversary gifts, “He’s good. He doesn’t need to get me anything. Honestly, do you, baby? He’s good at giving gifts and making surprises.” Plus, she doesn’t have to exercise with Tim, which she admitted is the best gift ever. “That’s amazing. I get to do that four-hour workout with you? No, thank you.”

And Tim doesn’t need an expensive gift, because he gets a priceless one every night. He says, “For me, it’s hearing her sing every night — that’s the best part about (the tour). To see her up on stage, having a great time and just belting it out? I mean, I always say it: when I’m on stage with her, it’s like NASCAR trying to keep up with an Indy car. She’s just that good. So, to watch her sing and see what she does is pretty inspiring.” Lucky for him, they will be performing in Houston tonight.

But when their current tour is over, they’re both thinking about going their separate ways. Not permanently, but just in an absence-makes-the-heart-grow-fonder kind of way.

Tim said, “I’m going to go on a man vacation after this is over.”

And Faith said, “I need a girl vacation, actually.”

Those getaways will have to wait until after Oct. 27, which is the night of their last scheduled stop on the Soul2Soul World Tour.

Eric Church was the headliner at Friday's Route 91 Fest in Vegas… and he's still reeling from the tragedy that happened two nights later. He talked about it during his show on Wednesday at the Grand Ole Opry.

He remembered going into the Vegas crowd to shake everybody's hand. Eric said, "I went all the way down the right side. Came back up the left side. Smiling faces. Hands in the air. Pictures being taken. I told them, 'Thank you for coming.'"

He talked about after the shooting when he saw Anderson Cooper interview a woman named Heather Melton. Her husband Sonny died while shielding her from the bullets. They went to the festival because Eric was her husband's favorite artist.

She said they were also looking forward to going to the Opry the next night. Eric then pointed to two seats that were left empty in their honor. He said, "The reason I'm here tonight is because of Heather and Sonny."

He said the shooting "broke something" inside of him and the only way to fix that is through music. So, he wrote a new song called "Why Not Me” it’s very very emotional.

Music City Minute: ACL Refunds, Luke Bryan, Tim & Faith

Austin City Limits Music Festival organizers are offering refunds to fans who feel unsafe to attend in light of recent events. The festival made the announcement following the tragic shooting in Vegas on Sunday.

ACL 2017 runs this weekend Oct. 6-8 and Oct. 13-15.

The festival draws more than 450,000 people each year, so far there have been only two requests for refunds as of Tuesday.

Country stars set to perform include Luke Combs, Brothers Osborne, Devin Dawson, and Tucker Bethard.

Even before the mass shooting in Las Vegas, ACL Festival had ensured that security would be tight, with safety a top priority. Interim police Chief Brian Manley says that police officers will have a strong presence at the festival. Umbrellas, cigarettes and blow-up furniture are banned from the event this year. There will also be restrictions on what size bag can be brought in, and fans should anticipate pat-downs and bag searches when they approach the gate.

Luke Bryan was on Good Morning America yesterday to talk about being a judge on American Idol, but before that he talked about the Las Vegas shooting and how he talked to Jason Aldean after it happened:

"It was one of the most heartbreaking days of my life, and for this country, too,” said Luke, in part. “I talked to Jason Aldean very early that morning, and hearing one of your best friends shaken up like that, knowing they’ll never be able to un-see these things. I don't know you get lumps and you get nauseated. And Katy, I and Lionel, we talked about it. There’s just gotta be something that we can do, from the mental health issue to all of the issues that are causing these things."

Tim and Faith will be at the AT&T Center tonight! We played a game of “Rapid Fire” with them this morning and got to ask some interesting questions. We asked Tim what his favorite outfit to see Faith in is, and asked Faith about what’s on her honey-do list for Tim plus other fun questions, you can hear the full interview here.

Music City Minute: The Voice, Taylor Swift, & Jason Aldean

The Voice Blind Auditions continued last night with Round 4 and another contestant shocked the judges! 18-year-old Sophia Bollman, a recent high school graduate who loves rock music, but chose to exercise her purest pop chops on Kelly Clarkson “Invincible.” It took a few minutes for anyone to turn their chairs, but finally Blake and Miley made the move.

Taylor Swift demonstrated a true act of kindness in the wake of the tragedy in Las Vegas. After learning that one of the officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Community Police Station was shot at Route 91 Harvest Festival on Oct. 1, Swift decided to bring the department a little joy, sending multiple flower arrangements to the office. Kimberlee Binder, an intel analyst for the LAPD, turned to Instagram to share the singer’s act of kindness:

Jason Aldean is calling for unity following Sunday's deadly shooting during his set at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. In his second statement released since the tragedy, Jason wrote on Instagram about the mix of emotions that have been running through his head since a gunman took the lives of 59 people and injured more than 500 others. Jason spoke about the kind of world we're living in today, writing, "Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see. This world is becoming the kind of place I am afraid to raise my children in." Jason then wrote about how coming together is the only way to move forward in this country. He said, "At the end of the day we aren't Democrats or Republicans, Whites or Blacks, Men or Women. We are all humans and we are all Americans and it's time to start acting like it and stand together as ONE!"

San Antonio Gridiron, S.A. Mayor Ron Nirenberg Get Down To ‘Despacito’ For Scholarships

San Antonio Express-News Writer Michael Quintanilla collaborated with city council to put together a fun music video to the summer hit “Despacito”! The music video is a part of the ‘Gridiron’ show which is similar to the sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. According to their Facebook page, “proceeds from the San Antonio Gridiron are used for scholarships for college students pursuing degrees in journalism or communications.”

“Gridiron shows traditionally are produced by journalist as local fundraisers, combining original skits and song parodies in a live theatrical production that spoofs newsmakers as well as the journalist who cover them,” says the Facebook page.

The AWESOME music video shows San Antonio City Council including Mayor Nirenberg moving to the popular Luis Fonsi song. Huge shout-out to Quintanilla, San Antonio Gridiron, and everyone else who put this video together; it’s another way to show how much fun we have in the Alamo City! Check it out!

What do you think, Y100 Family? Would you want to see a Beth Chandler, Mayor Nirenberg “Hot Cheeto/Despacito” collaboration?!

Music City Minute: Tributes from Maren Morris, Vince Gill, & Keith Urban

(From Rolling Stone) Maren Morris may not have just written "Dear Hate," but it's a song that has become tragically relevant in the past 24 hours for the Grammy winner and members of the country-music community the world over. In the wake of Sunday night's mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Morris posted the song, which features Country Music Hall of Fame member Vince Gill, on Monday afternoon.

"I wrote this song 3 years ago, recorded it last year with Vince Gill, and always have fans asking when I'll put it out. I never knew when would be the right time, but I realized today that there's never a right time," Morris wrote in the Instagram post debuting "Dear Hate." "Hate is everywhere, and I'm sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That's what it's here for. Here is Dear Hate. Any cent I see from this I'm donating to the Music City Cares Fund."

Keith Urban and Vince Gill also paid tribute to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting in a beautiful way. Last night Nashville held a vigil for the Las Vegas Shooting victims where Keith sang a cover of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and delivered a a few touching words…

“I started this morning by finding out about it and being shell-shocked all morning, getting my kids ready for school. My 9-year-old, as I was driving her to school this morning, said to me, ‘Dad, you seem quiet,’” Keith began.

He continued, “I said, ‘Yeah, a lot of people [were] killed last night.’ She said, ‘Did you know any of them?’ and I said, ‘Not that I know of.’ Then she said, ‘Then why are you so sad?’ I said, ‘First of all, these were innocent people horrifically taken, and secondly, they’re like family.’ It’s the one thing about country music that’s always been the center of it – it is community. So I did know those people, in that way.”

Vince Gill was also there and paid tribute singing “Go Rest High On That Mountain” video from the vigil is below:

If you’re wondering how you can help the victims of the Las Vegas shooting the Clark County, NV commission has established a GoFundMe account to provide financial relief to the victims families. The guys of Florida Georgia Line donated $10,000 and challenged some of their country friends like Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Backstreet Boys and more..

Luke Combs Pays Tribute To Vegas Shooting Victims

Jimmy Kimmel was in tears at the start of his monologue Monday night as he addressed the “terrible, inexplicable, shocking and painful tragedy” in Las Vegas, also his hometown. The ABC late-night host was still trying to process the events of Sunday night, when a gunman killed 59 people and injured more than 500, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Kimmel regained his composure, but got choked up repeatedly for the next 10 minutes as he talked about the victims. He also had some scathing words about gun control for government officials, including President Trump, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan.

Luke Combs was originally set to perform his song “When It Rains It Pours” to air later this fall, but instead Jimmy Kimmel asked Luke, who was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival if he would come on the show to perform a song to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. He sang his song “Used To You” and I’m going to warn you, it’s going to make you cry... hard.

Music City Minute: Lady Antebellum, Baby News, & A Proposal!

Lady Antebellum recorded their "Heart Break" video in Puerto Rico, and fell in love with the place. Obviously, it was before Hurricane Maria devastated the island… so they've decided to give back by donating $200,000 toward the relief efforts.

We’re not sure if this is real news or just a rumor but apparently Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are trying to get pregnant! They’re trying to get over some heartbreak after a recent IVF treatment. Their journey to start a family together hasn’t been an easy one, and it took an especially emotional turn at the end of the summer, when she took a pregnancy test and learned that she was pregnant with baby No. 4 — she’s already mom to Kingston, 11, Zuma, 9, and Apollo, 3, with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. She was overcome with joy and couldn’t wait to tell her boyfriend of nearly two years. Unfortunately, their joy soon turned to sadness — as a doctor told them they weren’t actually expecting.

Turns out Gwen is making the best out of a traumatic situation. After all this time, she really got pregnant, she had been afraid she wouldn’t be able to, getting pregnant was a sign that she needed to keep pursuing IVF treatments. She knows it will happen again. We’re hoping the best for Blake and Gwen and hopefully in time she’ll get pregnant and we can celebrate!

Michael Ray’s performance at New England Country Music Fest last month is a concert one couple will never forget. Mid-set in Portsmouth, N.H., Michael invited a fan named Eric Shepard to the stage after he asked him to help propose to his girlfriend, Kayla. The sweet moment was captured by another fan in the audience where Michael can be seen standing beside the couple and was the first to congratulate them with a big hug.

Music City Minute: Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean, & Midland!

Garth Brooks has written his autobiography, and like everything he does, it's a big deal. It's divided into five separate multi-media packages that will be released at different times.

Each will include a hardcover book, CDs, photos, tons of behind-the-scenes stuff… and each one will have it's own two-and-a-half hour documentary.

The first package is called "Anthology Part 1: The First Five Years", and it'll be out November 14th. That one talks about how his massive hit "The Thunder Rolls" was supposed to be released by a different artist.

It also reveals that he was very close to NOT recording two of his signature hits, "Friends in Low Places", and "The Dance"

Each package will be available in stores at a list price of $39.98.

So, I was looking up to see if Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany is having the baby anytime soon, and well she hasn’t. But I saw that Jason Aldean and his wife, the guys of Florida Georgia Line, and their wives are all in Idaho right now relaxing on a little vacay! Maybe a little pre-baby trip? They’ve been posting some cute pictures of their fun times and you can check those out on our Y100 Facebook page.

The guys of Midland are a modern-traditional country act, but they’re still one of the more eclectic new bands to hit country music in recent years. They’ll continue down that path by cutting a Spanish version of “Drinkin’ Problem”

The bands main singer Mark, is from Tuscon, Arizon but used to spend a lot of time in Mexico, as he’d travel across the border with his family on Sundays to attend church service and shop at the local markets. A Spanish rendition of the track will be a natural fit for the group, who whole-heartedly embrace the Spanish culture in their own sound.

Mark says, “I speak pretty good Spanish, but to actually translate it to be correct is a little bit challenging,” So he’s having two of their friends who speak Spanish fluently are help translate the song.

Music City Minute: Scotty McCreery, Cole Swindell, & The Voice!

Scotty McCreery is officially off the market, he proposed yesterday to his longtime girlfriend, Gabi Dugal, in the mountains of North Carolina. Scotty asked Gabi to go on a hike with him on their favorite trail near Grandfather Mountain, which they had just discovered last year. During the hike, Scotty waited patiently for the perfect moment to pop the question and did so when the two reached the top of the mountain. Dropping down on one knee, Scotty presented Gabi a ring that he had helped design specifically for her and asked for her hand in marriage. The couple plans to tie the knot next year.

Scotty says, "I’ve been planning this moment for so long that it feels surreal for it to have finally happened. Gabi is the perfect girl and my true love, and I cannot wait to begin building our life together as husband and wife."

The Voice Blind Auditions continued last night and we were blessed with an amazing female country singer! Her name is Ashland Craft she sang “You Are My Sunshine” in the style of Chris Stapleton. She’s only 21, and from the small town of Piedmont, South Carolina. She originally planned to go with Team Blake and that’s what I was hoping for but she said she felt a stronger connection with Miley so that’s who she went with! She’s my favorite Voice contestant EVER in all of the 13 season’s so I’m already pulling for her.

Cole Swindell will make his debut performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show tomorrow! Cole says he’s been blessed to get to perform in a lot of special places in his career, but he’s been looking forward to appearing on Ellen his whole career. Cole says, "I have been such a big fan of hers for as long as I can remember because she’s hilarious and more so for all the great things she does for people all the time. Me and my band can’t wait to get there!"

The Voice Is Back & Two Contestants Are On Fire!

Finally it’s back! We’ve waited months for this and the new season of The Voice is here! Can you believe we are in Season 13!? Last night was the first night of the Blind Auditions and Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine, and Miley Cyrus battled it out! I always love the Blind Auditions because they’re so uplifting and inspiring and I think they really give people hope that they can reach their dreams.

Two contestants from last night really made an impression on the judges and America.

Everyone fell in love with Esera Tuaolo, a 48-year-old ex-NFL player, he played for 9 years and won an NFC Championship! He sang “Rise Up” by Andra Day, and ends up going with Team Blake!

A young lady everyone’s amazed at is 15-year-old Shi’Ann Jones she sang Ray Charles “Drown In My Own Tears” and went with Team Jennifer.
